Ciyunsi

Ciyun Temple, formerly known as Fahua Temple, was built in the Tang Dynasty. The temple is rigorous in structure and unique in shape. The overall layout is a three-entry courtyard. The main buildings include the Shanmen, King Kong Hall, Bell Tower, Drum Tower, Daxiong Hall, Shiji Hall, Pilu Hall, Guanyin Hall and Dizang Hall. The Bell and Drum Tower in front of the Daxiong Palace is a more distinctive building in the temple. It was built in the Yuan Dynasty. It absorbed the tent roof style of the nomads outside the Great Wall in its architectural model, forming a unique style. In the second entrance courtyard, there is a Shiji Hall. The murals in the hall are unique in Ciyun Temple. On the wall of more than 100 square meters, there are twenty-four heavens, eight parts of Tianlong, etc., which were painted in the Ming Dynasty. There are more than 200 Buddha statues of various sizes in each hall, which have disappeared and have high artistic value. Behind this hall is the Pilu Hall. The wooden sculptures on both sides of the hall were originally stored in the "Sanzang Quanshu", a total of more than 8,800 volumes, which were later moved to the Datong Museum.
