At the end of the Edo period, he served as a lumber magistrate and served as a heavy duty.

Torida's residence was one of the samurai residences on the northwest side of Shimabara Castle. In the samurai residences here, Yamamoto residence, Shinozuka residence, and Torida residence were open to the public for free from the north side, and I was able to visit the inside of the building. It is said that the owner of this mansion was in charge of important duties such as lumber magistrates at the end of the Edo period. The building was a thatched roof. It seems that the thatched roof was rebuilt in the spring of the second year of Reiwa.

Is it the most magnificent among the samurai residences in shimabara?

On the northwest side of Shimabara Castle, there is a samurai residence street that runs north-south. Many samurai residences were still left today, and some of them were open to the public for free. Torida's residence is one of them. The Torida family has been an old family since the founding of the Matsudaira feudal lord, and entered Shimabara in 1669. At the end of the Edo period, he was involved in important jobs such as lumber magistrate, Somon Kataka, and Funatsu traffic guard. Therefore, it was large and magnificent among the samurai residences around here, which are said to have many lower-class samurai houses.
