Stadium of Light

The Stadium of Light is also translated as Luz Stadium, and its official name is Benfica Stadium (Estádio doSport Lisboae Benfica). Luz is the name of the parish where the stadium is located, and the word also means "light" in Portuguese, so the stadium is also commonly known as "the stadium of light". The old Luce Stadium was completed in 1954, demolished in 2002, and officially started operations on October 25, 2003. This 5-star stadium can accommodate 64,400 people and has more than 7,000 business seats. It has hosted many European Cup events here, including the final of the 2004 European Cup. It is worth mentioning that the 2014 European high-level competition Champions Cup final was also held here. The Stadium of Light also comes with a museum, a fan shop and a small youth team training pitch. The various exhibits of the museum are arranged chronologically around the important events of Benfica, and the introduction of historical events of the same period is displayed next to it. Traveling all the way along the order arranged by the museum, there is always a feeling of time and space.
