Bricks are built around the courtyard and cave in good conditions. There is no conditional loess straw facing. The ancestors here have lived below the horizon for generations.

The pit yard in Miaoshang Village, Shaanxi County, Sanmenxia City, is an architectural miracle that has been popular on the loess high slopes of China for more than 4,000 years. It is called the underground courtyard. Empress Dowager Cixi also stayed here when she fled west. Dikeng courtyard is mainly constructed by digging a deep pit about 10 meters long in the flat area of the Loess Plateau, which is about 6 meters deep, and then digging several caves on the four walls. These caves also have different functional areas such as main kiln, side kiln, kitchen kiln and livestock kiln, just like quadrangle courtyard. The courtyard also has seepage wells to store rainwater, and a fruit tree, mainly pears, peaches and apples, is quite sentimental, worth visiting!

It's better to go to the mountains in late spring and early summer. Now it's bare, but it has a different taste. Many villagers are now living on the ground. It's time to go and see.
