San Gimignano San Gimignano. This town is famous for its high towers. The medieval local tyrants fought in the form of building high towers. During its heyday, the town had more than 70 high towers. Now there are more than ten left, but only one of them can be visited. Still, San Gimignano is known as the "City of the 100 Towers". There are many restaurants and shops around the cathedral square, and visitors are happy to take a break here.
