Nice place to have a stroll around!
We visited in September and to go into the grounds and castle, it has to be weekends only. But you can walk right around the outer walkway of the castle walls, but the last bit is on a wall that drops...

Just south of St-Vaast on a peninsula is La Houge. When we were visiting, there were works going on at the tower so we could not go right around the Vauban fortress. If we had been able to go right ...
In the 17th century, the fortress defended the coast from the enemies, today people walk around it, and goats are on the walls. I recommend to sit on the edge of the promenade and look at the sea: The landscape is amazing.
