MoreYing'en Tower is located on the west gate of Shanhaiguan. It was first built in the 15th year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty and has been expanded and renovated many times. Ying'en Tower was a must-go place for the post road in the Ming Dynasty, the imperial road in the Qing Dynasty and the tribute road in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Unlike the famous No. 1 Pass Tower in the World, Zhendong Tower is a military building arrow tower, while Ying'en Tower belongs to the tower system. "Ying'en" means welcoming the emperor's grace. According to research, in the 9th year of Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty (1744 AD), Emperor Qianlong climbed the tower and wrote the inscription "Xiang Ai Bo Sang" in his own hand.
Ying'en Tower is 12 meters high. The platform is a large brick-and-wood structure tower imitating the Ming Dynasty. It has double eaves and a black copper tile roof. It is five bays wide, 28.86 meters long, two bays deep, 16.86 meters wide and 19.47 meters high. The building is divided into two floors. The first floor is surrounded by corridors on all four sides and has three-step brackets. The second floor has a flat platform and fences on all four sides and five-step brackets. The overall momentum is magnificent.
