Hongfan Lake

Hongfan Pond, also known as "Dragon Pond", is located in Hongfan Pond Town, southwest of Pingyin County. It is a famous spring pond in the west of Jinan. The name of the pond comes from the "Book of History·Hongfan". According to the "Reconstruction of Hongfan Pond Stele" during the Daoguang period, in the Jin Dynasty, "the villagers prayed for rain and built a dragon temple in the north of the pond, so it was also called Dragon Pond." On the outer wall on the south side of the spring pond, the two characters "Dragon Pond" are engraved in running script. Under the characters is a bluestone dragon head protruding from the wall of the pond. The spring water overflows from the dragon head's mouth, but it does not appear to be gushing. The water surface is clear and stable like a mirror, and it flows all year round. Yang Shiyuan of the Qing Dynasty once wrote a couplet: "Always reflect the shadow of the pond on the world, and do not rise and fall with the spring and autumn."

As the spring water is buoyant, coins thrown into the water will not sink for a long time, and the "Hongfan floating gold" has become one of the famous local landscapes. The water quality of Hongfan Pond is excellent and rich in minerals.
