Oamaru

The relatively large city on New Zealand's South Island, second only to Christchurch, in the evening we bought tickets to go up the mountain and wait for the little blue penguins to land from the sea and return to their accommodation under the sight of many spectators. It gave us a big surprise. The weather was cold and the wind and rain were mixed.

Oamaru, Maori Te Oha-a-Maru, 80 km south of Timaru and 120 km north of Danidin, is the third largest city in Otago, connected by New Zealand's longest Highway 1. There is the most famous penguin conservation center, and the smallest blue penguin in the world is currently being re-bred. In addition, there are yellow-eyed penguins in Bushy Beach , which makes this town known as penguin town.

Omaru is a wonderful trip to New Zealand, where the steam locomotive, blue bay, white stone town is full of sunshine and enthusiasm, compared to the natural scenery, the humanistic scenery here is more slow to travel.

The famous Moreki boulders are scattered along the coast 40 kilometers south of Oamaru. According to Maori legend, this is the melon that rolled out when the sailing ship Araiteuru sank on the shore more than a thousand years ago. Scientists later found that these large boulders formed 65 million years ago.

Omaru is just passing by, I wanted to see blue penguins, or yellow-eyed penguins, but went to I-site to understand, it is said that blue penguins will not return to the nest until 9:30 in the evening, yellow-eyed penguins are also closed because fewer and fewer. But there is a wide variety of flowers in public garden, , and it is so beautiful. This is the previous strategy that I have not seen it. It is worth a visit... Omaru is a very tasteful seaside town. The best attraction is the Steampunk Museum. Many people just pass by and don't have a cave after entering. Diagonally opposite the museum is Tyne Street. There is a very simple building is the Cretrian Hotel, built in 1877. Along Tyne Street you can walk to the sea. On the other side of the city is Thames Street, with churches erected on the south side of the street. The first building on the street was the post office in 1864, now the City Hall, built opposite the National Bank, now the art gallery. The city retains the breath of old Europe, as if back in the 19th century.

Omaru Historic District In the 19th century, this is the most important seaport on New Zealand's South Island. I like Omaru very much. It feels very comfortable. There are ancient European buildings everywhere, dignified and gorgeous buildings, exuding the temperament of the king and the hotel I stayed in is facing the sea. There is a feeling of spring blossoms!
