Nanjing Museum is referred to as Nanyuan or Nanbo. Its predecessor was the National Central Museum, which was founded by Cai Yuanpei in the 22nd year of the Republic of China (1933), and it is the earliest museum created in China and the first large-scale comprehensive museum built by the state investment.
