This fake historical site in Nanjing is a forgery, but it's done with great care
Nanjing has another 'fake historical site': the Mustard Seed Garden located in the 'fake historical buildings complex' of Laomendong. Sometimes, even though you know it's a fake, you just want to go and see how much effort was put into the forgery.
The Mustard Seed Garden was originally the private residence and villa of Li Yu, a famous scholar from the early Qing Dynasty. Li Yu moved to Jinling and first lived near the Jinling sluice, and then built the Mustard Seed Garden before the Qixi Festival of the seventh year of the Kangxi era in the Qing Dynasty. Although the Mustard Seed Garden was less than three acres, through Li Yu's painstaking efforts, it achieved the artistic conception of 'a world within a pot' and holds an important place in the history of Chinese gardens.
A painting manual came out of the Mustard Seed Garden, which holds a position in the world of Chinese painting akin to the 'Evil-Resisting Sword Manual' in Jin Yong's martial arts world. In the Chinese painting community, it is widely circulated, deeply influential, and has nurtured many famous artists. The 'Mustard Seed Garden Painting Manual' is truly deserving of its reputation. Some famous modern painters such as Huang Binhong, Qi Baishi, Pan Tianshou, and Fu Baoshi, all took the 'Mustard Seed Garden Painting Manual' as a model for further study.
However, the real Mustard Seed Garden of history has long since vanished without a trace, not even ruins remain. In recent years, Nanjing has built a new garden near the original site and named it 'Mustard Seed Garden'. As the saying goes, 'When the fake is made to look real, the real also becomes fake', and in the end, who really cares about the authenticity?

I came from Xinjiekou on a shared bicycle, it is really difficult to take a taxi here. Speaking of which, I think it is more lively than the Confucius Temple. Especially at night. I was almost lost when I went shopping. Next to it is the glass tower of Dabaoen Temple. It is very beautiful at night.
