The Cereding Theatre, located on the northwest side of the eponymous square, opened in 1877 and named after the Catholic Cereding Society, where it was stationed. The area was occupied by the Knights Templar for nearly 400 years, and the original monastery was demolished in 1778 and replaced by houses and theatres. After the 18th century, the appearance of the square changed almost anything.
The Lyon Cereding Theatre, which is a hundred and thirty years old, is located northwest of Cereding Square. The building is gorgeous and decorated in a magnificent style. The name of the theater is derived from the Catholic Church of Cereding. This area was built as a monastery and was the estate of the Knights Templar in medieval Jerusalem. The monastery was destroyed after the annihilation of the Order. The current square continues its late 18th century appearance. Underground line A, D, Bellecour station.
