Jiazizhen

Jiazi Town is an ancient and developed ancient town in eastern Guangdong. It was originally called Jiazimen. It is called Jiazi because of the large stone walls in the port, which are arranged like gates, which are consistent with the sixty Jiazi characters of the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches. Jiazi Town is located in the south of Lufeng City. It faces Jiadong Town across the Yingjiang River in the east, borders Huilai County in Jieyang City in the north, connects with Jiaxi Town in the west, and faces the South China Sea in the south. The terrain of Jiazi Town is high in the northwest and low in the southeast, and is a hilly area. The geological surface is dominated by loess, which contains more sand and is solid. It has a subtropical monsoon climate, with an average annual temperature of 22°C, mild and rainy. Jiazi Town has charming scenery and rich tourism resources. Waiting to cross the mountain, in the second year of Duanzong in the Southern Song Dynasty (1277), the Song Emperor went to Jiazimen to wait for crossing the mountain. The fisherman Zheng Fuweng lifted the pole to help the master to recover, and later generations built Jiaxiu Tower, eating pavilion and general temple in the waiting mountain as a memorial. Celebrities of the Song Dynasty, Jinshi and Juren of the Qing Dynasty and other stone carvings left ink marks, making the mountain to be crossed into a natural scenic spot. The Red Building was built in 1925. When the older generation of revolutionaries led the army to the east, they planned the revolutionary struggle there. Jiaxiu Academy is the site of the No. 1 Middle School in Jiazi Town. In the tenth year of Jiaqing’s reign in the Qing Dynasty, the Provincial Constitutionalist (anonymous) came to Jia for inspection. He provided part of his salary and ordered the gentlemen and Yin households to donate money to build the academy. In addition, there are eight ancient scenic spots such as "Chaolai Herringbone Water", "Parrots Pecking Carp" and "Wood and Stone Wonders". Jiazi is rich in seafood, and high-quality seafood includes mackerel, eel, grouper, diced fish, squid, prawn, lobster and so on.
