Sanfeng Temple was built in the first year of Dazhong Xiangfu in the Northern Song Dynasty (1008), and it got its name because it was built at the foot of the three peaks. At the end of the Ming Dynasty, the temple was destroyed, and only three stone Buddhas remained, which were rebuilt during the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty.
