Kuopio City Hall

Kuopio Town Hall was built between 1882 and 1885. The date on the wall shows that construction work began in 1882. Designed by architect F.A. Sjöström and assisted by architect Josef Stenbäck. As the building was progressively completed, it was opened up for daily use. The banquet hall was first opened for use in 1885. But based on signatures and dates on the hall ceiling, it is believed that the interior works were completed in 1886. Kuopio is a Neo-Renaissance style of architecture. The paint on its exterior walls now dates back to 1974.
