Kikuchi City in the northern part of Kumamoto Prefecture. We left Nabegataki in Oguni Town and ran south on the national highway to reach the center of Kikuchi City. Kikuchi Shrine was near the center of town. Kikuchi Shrine had precincts throughout the small hills. The place we thought was a small hill was the ruins of a medieval mountain castle called Kikuchi Castle, and it is said that it was the base of Mr. Kikuchi, who ruled this area. There were halls and so on scattered in the lush greenery.
It is a shrine that enshrines Mr. Kikuchi who once ruled this area.

From Nabegataki in Oguni Town, I drove south on National Highway 387 to reach the center of Kikuchi City. In the center of Kikuchi City, there was a Kikuchi Tourist Products Center with a large parking lot. I decided to park my car in this parking lot and take a walk in the town of Kikuchi. The first thing I went to was Kikuchi Shrine. Kikuchi Shrine is a magnificent shrine located on a lush hill and has a large precincts. Originally, it was the place where there was a mountain castle called Kikuchi Castle. Meiji 3 This shrine, which was built in the year, is ... during the period of the Northern and Southern Dynasties.
It is a shrine enshrined on the site of Moriyama Castle, which was the base of the Kikuchi clan. There is a magnificent torii gate adjacent to the parking lot of the Civic Square, and if you go through the two torii gates a little far away and climb about 200 stone steps, you will find the shrine. I worshiped early in the morning on weekdays, so it was a quiet and solemn atmosphere.
