Jiayuguan is strangled by the Hexi Corridor (East-West), so there are fortifications on both sides of Chengguan, which isolates the direct contact between the inner city and the outside, and is an important part of the ancient city defense.

Xiyu City also split the south of the gate, not directly connected to the inner city gate, making the Guancheng more solemn and deep, and becoming a defense line in the inner city.

Dongguan City and Xiguan City are located in the Jiayuguan Guancheng Scenic Area, and are also the main points of view of the Jiayuguan Great Wall. Dongguan City has a "First Pass in the World" plaque, which is a three-story high wooden Xieshan-style attic. It is very bold and is a unique place to take pictures. Xiyu City is the gateway of Jiayuguan, and the vast Gobi desert and endless Bohai Sea are out. Today, the exit here is a place for outdoor activities. Horse riding, camel riding, go-karting are the main amusement projects. Yucheng is an extremely important part of the Great Wall defense system. Surrounded by tall walls, there are hundreds of mouths on the walls. Once the outermost gate is closed and the enemy is trapped in the city, there is only a road to death, and there is still a unilateral massacre, which we often see in film and television dramas. The two cities do not have a common connection, each has its own road. Below the city of Xiyu, there is also a stall, which is specially made to create customs clearance Wenyu.
