It was neat to see they are preserving this disappearing specimen. Walk through forest is bi-directional, so there may be some passing others. Lots of steps, but well maintained.

Admission costs 300 yen for a fee. It is a compact building like a store and home, with an office and a souvenir shop on the first floor, a reference room on the second floor, and a rooftop overlooking the Yaeyama palm community. The surrounding area is a garden, and you can enjoy it for free. It was a rare experience that the view felt more valuable than the exhibits. Please check it with your eyes.

There is a small parking lot and a memorial hall next to the Yonehara Yaeyama Iasi Community. The surrounding vegetation and buildings are in good condition, and it is recommended to go to see the Yaeyama Iasi Community after seeing the exhibits. The entrance fee is 300 yen, and the second floor is an exhibition of research achievements of the second generation (Dr. Toshihiko Satake), founded by Satake Co., Ltd., a top rice miller in Hiroshima, from the rooftop of the third floor, Iasi community on the north slope of Mt. Fukai (only Fukai Omoto) Urasoba Bay, You can see the spectacular view of Kawahira Bay.

The Satake Yaeyama Iasi Memorial Hall is a memorial hall that introduces the achievements of Toshihiko Satake, who discovered that Ryukyu Yaeyama Iasi was a new species, and introduces the Iasi. It is sometimes surrounded by a virgin palm forest.

I stopped by while driving along the coastline of Ishigaki Island. One of the purposes of this trip is to see the herd of Yaeyama palm. However, I couldn't get out of the car due to the heavy rainy squall on Ishigaki Island. I took the photo with the window open, but in an instant, the inside of the car was messy.
