When I heard Hamburg had a beach, I was very curious to check it out and my friends in Hamburg told me to go there. Now, if you are a normal human being who''s been to the beach in the Mediterranean, then we will agree that this is NOT a beach. OK, fine, you have a patch of 200m of sand which is next to the Elbe river but you can most definitely not swim as you are overlooking a port ! I guess it gets warm during the summer and maybe you can sunbathe and pretend you are on holidays in Spain but truly I''d rather do that at the park than there.
Elbe Beach is also a great spot to see the views of Hamburg Harbour, along the Elbe River.
You might be surprised to see the word Hamburg and the word beach in the same sentence, but it's true the city does have a beach - of sorts! Perhaps more of an activity for the summer months, because I couldn't stay for more than a few minutes in winter without freezing. To get here you need to take a bus, or a ferry, and then it's nice to stroll around and take in all the huge mansions lining the water.
On the banks of the Yibei River, walking is more comfortable and comfortable.
