Guanghui Temple

Guanghui Temple is located in Datong County, Xining, formerly known as Guo Mang Temple, built in the seventh year of Shunzhi in the Qing Dynasty (1650). The temple is backed by the rolling foothills of Huangboya Mountain, facing the lush Yazigou pine forest, and the surrounding land is open and flat, with fertile and fertile fields. The founder of Guanghui Monastery was the Lama Duanzhi Gyatso of Drepung Monastery in Tibet. At the beginning of the monastery, there was only a sutra school of Xianzong, and at the beginning of the Kangxi period, a temple of the esoteric sect was established, and it became a monastery for both Xianzong and esoteric. The decline of Guanghui Temple originated in the first year of Yongzheng (1723), when the Mongolian Heshuote Department of Qinghai Province, Luobu Zangdanjin, and the Dzungar Department of Tserwang Alabtan rebelled against the Qing Dynasty. The monks of the temple helped the rebels under the instigation of individual upper-level lamas. Later, Nian Gengyao and Yue Zhongqi recovered Xining and Datong, destroyed Guanghui Temple, destroyed holy pagodas, and burned Buddhist halls and scripture halls. Since then, Guanghui Temple has declined for a time, and it was not until the tenth year of Yongzheng (1732) that the Qing government allocated funds to rebuild it and gave it the name "Guanghui Temple". In the following 200 years, Guanghui Temple has experienced two major disasters. When the monastery reopened in 1981, many monks began to return to the monastery, and new monasteries, scripture halls, and wing rooms were built. Many precious cultural relics and photos were able to meet the monks and lay people again. In 1998, two pagodas were built at 246 meters from the gate of the original monastery, one named "Bodhi Pagoda" is a square pagoda; the other named "Susheng Pagoda" is a round pagoda.
