樹齢600年のしだれ桜
清雲寺と言ったらしだれ桜です。樹齢600年のしだれ桜は県内最大ということで埼玉県指定天然記念物になっています。清雲寺のしだれ桜は1本だけでなくたくさん咲いているので、見ごたえがあります。しだれ桜の見ごろの週末にはライトアップも行われます。今年のライトアップは、3/25(金)3/26(土)4/1(金)4/2(土)の4日です。
なんといっても、しだれ桜
温暖化の影響か、近年は３月中旬から、末にかけて白いしだれ桜から始まり、紅しだれ桜まで順々に咲きます。本堂や石垣等の建物の風情も十分にあり、また拝観料も無料ということも合わせて、行って見る価値は高いです。駐車場が無いので、近隣の民間の駐車場に停めます。私は300円を支払いました。
枝垂れ桜
３月末に枝垂れ桜が満開になります。夜はライトアップもしています。のどかな場所にあるので、周辺を歩くのも楽しいです。
枝垂れ桜で有名な臨済宗のお寺
秩父鉄道武州中川駅から徒歩15分位の所にあり、1420年創建の臨済宗建長寺派のお寺です。 秩父観音霊場の札所には指定されていませんが、石垣の上に造られたお寺は静かで落ち着いた雰囲気でした。 5月中旬に行ったため桜は既に終わっていましたが、多くの桜の木があり3月下旬から4月中旬頃にかけて見事な枝垂れ桜が見られるようです。
