Ganlu Temple

Ganlu Temple was founded in the Zhiping period  of the Northern Song Dynasty according to the "Ming Yitongzhi". According to folklore, there is a dutiful son's tomb and Ganlu descended, hence the name. Since the Song Dynasty, it has been worshipping Buddha. It was built in Ming, Qing and later periods, and it was rebuilt in 1984. With its natural large stone chamber crowned Chaoshan and stone walls, the large-scale Maitreya statue is peculiar and spectacular, and tourists are endless. Registration was opened in June 1986. The gate of Ganlu Temple is made up of three giant stones in the shape of a character.  The whole temple is about 600 square meters and is divided into 3 parts. Just entered, the stone carving "repaired by Jiakoukou, the prefect of Chaozhou in the 48th year of Wanli (1620) with the help of silver". There are two big vajra statues, and a standing statue of Veduo Bodhisattva next to them. Beyond that, there is the Mahavira Hall, where the main Buddha Sakyamuni is enshrined, with eighteen golden statues of arhats on both sides.  Furthermore, there is a huge seated statue of Maitreya Buddha carved on the original stone at the bottom. It is very eye-catching. It is 2.55 meters high and 4.15 meters wide. On the knee, it may have been chiseled from the Southern Song Dynasty to the beginning of the Yuan Dynasty. It was earlier in the statue of Maitreya with a large belly in the Chinese grottoes and has a high cultural value. There is a large stone incense burner in front of the Buddha, and the three characters "Tiangudou" are engraved. On the right side of the stone bed under the furnace is engraved "Blessed Life, Nectar Land, Longevity Qi Yu Jiantian", and on the left "(Ming) Wanli Bingchen Year (1616) Winter Jidan Li".
