During the May Fourth Movement, it supported patriotism and opposed the brutal rule of the Beiyang warlords. In the same year, Mingde University was opened in Hankou, and in 1926 it was closed due to financial constraints. He was president of Hunan University in 1929, and he vigorously sought the development and improvement of the Lake University. He resigned in 1930. Since then, he has been dedicated to running secondary schools, aiming to train talents, and taking the four words "hard and sincere" as his school motto. During the War of Resistance Against Japan, he was a member of the National Participation Committee. In 1938, the Changsha fire, Mingde school building was destroyed, he moved Mingde to Xiangxiang County Xialing Township to continue classes. In the winter of 1940, he died of hypertension in Chongqing Geleshan Apartment. In 1948, he was buried in Yuelu Mountain. He wrote the poem collection of "Respect for the Words".

Beard Jing Tomb and another attraction Hu Yuanyan Tomb are the same thing. This tomb is quite big, but there is no sign at the intersection, so few people go to see it.
