St Michael and St Gudula Cathedral, Brussels

St. Michael and St. Gudula Cathedral is one of the most comfortable churches I’ve ever visited. The lighting is soft and pleasant, and the choir singing in the background adds a peaceful touch. The interior isn’t overly fancy, which have a nice balance between simplicity and decoration. One of the best churches.

Also known as the Cathedral of Saint Michel and Saint-Gudulle, the church is located on the hill of Brussels, from 1017 to the first cornerstone completed in 1080, and lasted more than 60 spring and autumn. The church is 114 meters high and 57 meters wide. The whole building is Gothic, divided into three parts: the altar, the ear hall, and the main hall. The church's patrons are the archangel Michel and the martyr Saint-Gudule. It was a small church dedicated to Saint-Michel in the ninth century. The eleventh century was replaced by the present Roman church. In 1047, Rainbelle II founded the Council and organized the transfer of the relics of St. Coudreau, which was placed in the Church of St. Helena on the island of Helena, and since then he has been known as St. Michel and Hugo of St. Coudreau It is the purest flower in Gothic style. The two high square clock towers on the front are somewhat similar to Notre Dame. The clock tower is 64 meters tall, only five meters lower than Notre Dame. Because the uneven peaks cannot provide a wide and flat foundation, people have built several buildings along the hillside. Worth a visit. See the picture. In the 13th century, the cathedral was renovated as Gothic. The choir was built between 1226 and 1276. The facade was completed in the mid-15th century.
