Fun times watching fav rock band in smaller , more private venue
Myself and a friend visited this venue to see a wonderful rock band . It was so easy to find , parked in Hawkwood Road for the time we were there and very soon we were at the Academy . You can only bring in a very small bag for safety reasons . Once inside it is a very old , beautiful and ornate building with bars on all floors , 1900 capacity so feels great to watch your favourite band jn , feels cosy rather than Wembley etc . So I have to say get there early and stand at the front of general admission, as if you are under 5ft 7 you’ll struggle .really enjoyed the sound quality here so I would prefer to return here rather than the local Bournemouth international centre instead , seen many bands / comedians there . So much easier in every way to go to the 02 academy , much preferred the smaller venue .
Fantastic assistance for those with access issues and a great venue
Having succumbed to a neurological condition that means I have trouble standing and walking, but not being judged ‘disabled’ I have not been able to attend a concert for the last few years, even if you get a seat most people stand at venues, something I can’t do. I cannot thank Becky at the O2 enough for the straightforward way to allow me to enjoy live music again. Thanks to Becky I was able to have a reserved seat on the first floor with a superb view of the stage for James. Had read some reviews criticising the toilets, the men’s on this floor were clean and had no issues.
Great venue. Have been here a few times and it is still a nice venue to go to. The bar is easier to navigate than others and way the sound bounces off the walls creates a great atmosphere for gigs. Would recommend this venue, plus it is in Bournemouth which is such a great town. Photos I have are older but venue hasn’t changed much!
What a show! The man is my age (mid 60s) and takes the stage as if he was half that. Stupendous performance and what a venue, large enough without losing intimacy and connection. Spent nearly two hours delivering a wonderful mix of old and new, and saved the best (Cars, and Are Friends electric) for the encore, why wouldn't you??? Spent nearly three times as much to see Tool at the O2 the following Monday, should have saved some money and gone to another Gary Numan concert, the man is magnificent.
