Maretsch Castle

Marec Castle is located in the north of the old town of Bolzano. The older buildings can be traced back to the first half of the 13th century. Later, they were expanded again and again and gradually formed the castle we see today. Among them, the construction of the Renaissance manor allows us to still see the four-cornered round tower built in the castle. There are many murals depicting writers and philosophers in the castle, and some reflect the wealth of the former castle owner. These frescoes are the most important wealth of the castle of Marec, witnessing the twists and turns of the castle's long history of development.
