This was an absolutely amazing experience. I saw videos on youtube about these tiny little creatures but when you see them in person they are breathtaking. This sanctuary is a proper sanctuary and it is not over commerialised. the focus here is on the tarsiers and not selling merchandise. the staff take care of these animals and tarsiers go out hunting and come back to the sanctuary. also a very informative video at the centre about how tarsiers have been around for 45 million years. i hope there is no more development where these creatures are found or they might be the next animal we cause to become extinct
The monkey is a national treasure of the Philippines and can only be seen at close range on Bohol Island. The monkey Tarsier is very petite, with gray or yellow hair, and its round, raised eyes are like a pair of heavy glasses, so it is called the monkey. Its overall length is about 10 cm, and an adult finger can lift it completely. Glasses are good at climbing and jumping, and can travel freely between the jungles. They often rest during the day and forage at night, often relying on the fruits of plants or small insects for their livelihood.
These small primates are the smallest in the world and they look even smaller in person because they crouch down into a fetal position for they are nocturnal. So cute!
Going to this place was definitely one of the highlights of my Cebu-Bohol trip! Seeing these cutie lil animals made my heart so happy. Don't miss this place!
