During my visit to Bangkok this is what I always see from the overpass heading to Central World, the four faces of the Buddha statue. The front face represents career and life. Continuing clockwise, the second is symbolic of relationship and family, the third is for wealth, and the last for wisdom and health. The four faces symbolize the four books of the Vedas, the Hindu scriptures and the source of all knowledge in the creation of the universe. The eight hands, symbolize the omnipresence and power of Lord Brahma. The glistening Erawan Shrine was erected in 1956, adjacent to the then existent Erawan Hotel to ward off evil and to eliminate the bad karma believed caused by laying the foundations on the wrong date. Today it still glistens like a sacred golden island-emitting positivity, with strong whiffs of incense and flowers and the sound of prayers; almost cutting one off from the monotony of a busy inter junction. Holla! Welcome to Bangkok! Erawan Shrine is one of the most popular Hindu shrines in downtown Bangkok. It’s in front of Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel, at the corner of Ploenchit and Ratchadamri Road. Throughout the day (and night), you'll often see crowds paying their respects, presenting flowers and incense sticks to a gold sculpture of the 4-faced Brahma God, Than Tao Mahaprom. Locals and tourists now frequent the shrine for good luck and blessings as it’s known to grant whatever is wished. The shrine receives so much traffic that workers remove the offered flowers and incense sticks every few minutes. You should pay a visit if you are going to Bangkok 😄

The nearest BTS is Chitlom station with a few minutes of walk, the Erawan Shrine was built in 1956 as part of the government owned Erawan Hotel to eliminate the bad karma believed caused by laying the foundation at wrong date. Like the original Hindu Brahma, the Erawan shrine has four faced buddha, the front faced represent career and life, second is for relationship and family, the third face is for wealth and the fourth face is for wisdom and health. You can donate for the dancers to perform infont the four face buddha beside the store selling flower, candles and incense.

It is at a very prominent intersection where Ratchadamri Road, Rama I Road, and Phloen Chit Road meet. It was renovated not long ago because there had been a car crash inside Erawan Shrine. This temple is located at the traffic junction and there was this time, the car lost control and crashed into the temple. There are many stalls outside the temple selling offerings.
