Ouigo vs. TGV (International) Trains

Ouigo and TGV trains are high-speed train services operated by the French national railway company SNCF. Both can reach speeds of 186 miles per hour, but Ouigo is typically cheaper and offers more space per seat.

However, other amenities and services may be reduced on Ouigo services instead, such as the absence of a coffee bar carriage.

Ouigo Onboard Services

You are allowed to bring two pieces of hand luggage free of charge. However, please note that certain additional services or facilities may come at an extra cost, including power sockets, extra baggage, strollers, text alerts, pets, and access to a quiet area. FAQs

  • What on-board services do Ouigo have?

Free services include more space per seat, toilets, kids stroller and two pieces of hand luggage. Additional services may come at an extra cost, including WiFi, power sockets, extra baggage and more.
  • Can I take my bike on a Ouigo train?

Yes! If you fold or disassemble your bike and store it in a suitable carrying case, you are welcome to bring it along.
  • Why are Ouigo train tickets so cheap?

Because there are only standard seats available and onboard catering services are not provided. The usual amenities found on regular trains are considered additional offerings here. We issue refund vouchers as follows:

    1. 25% of the total cost of your ticket (excluding options) if your arrival was 1h–1h 59m late
    2. 50% of the total cost of your ticket (excluding options) if your train arrived late by 2h or more

Within 3 days, you’ll receive your OUIGO vouchers at the email address you entered when you booked your journey.
