Phutawan Kan Resort

Located about 7km north west of the town, the staff are all friendly and helpful. I have rented a small motorbike to get me around, a necessity which means I can go where and when I desire, small money so no problem! Have been to the cemeteries and museums to pay my respect to ALL who suffered during those darkest of days. I have also been to the original wooden bridge constructed by the POW’s and others, it is located in the JEATH museum adjacent to the bridge that is in use these days. Entry cost 50 Baht, and there is so much to see that I took two hours inside, would recommend a morning visit so you can view the many items and read the facts behind them at your leisure. The museum has been set up by a local man and is most definitely worth visiting. 100% value for money! I mentioned to a Thai man inside that we were so grateful that people around the area did try to ease the suffering of the POWs, risking their own necks by doing so. My mother was an innocent child at 7 years old, alongside her mother and little sister she waved goodbye to her father, John Francis Egan, he said he was going to work for a while!! After working in Turkey, his ANZAC unit were moved on to Italy, to partake in one of the harder campaigns of the war. His life was taken by a German bullet at Mount Casino, alongside many many others! Please understand how one can feel. I try my hardest to be non judgmental and tolerant these days. I have not walked in your shoes and do not know your story. “Footsteps in the sand” comes to mind at this moment. I have PTSD myself, and I knew coming to Kanchanaburi may get emotional, and it has. Now my mother is 88 years young, and became a great grandma for the second time two weeks ago. Apologies if it got too personal, started as a review of the Phoo Tawan hotel. Words are insufficient, our gratitude to all who risked their own lives and those that paid the ultimate price. Life is precious, please enjoy the moment. Peace, love and joy to all who inhabit this world. ONE LOVE
Chez Bure - Bure Homestay

I usually stay in international business hotels but with none obviously available in Kanchanaburi, we read TA reviews and chose Chez Bure. What a great hidden gem! Simple but effective decor, the room was perfect for a one night stay with hot water and a clean comfy bed. The service was lovely, with the team members always happy and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble and they were so generous. Free home made muffins, cookies and even snacks in the room! Breakfast was simple but filled a hole and was perfect. One final things I wish to highlight was how clean the room and all areas were. Better than some hotels I stay at! Overall highly recommended for a short stay.

New hotel with a variety of activities to choose from, such as natural swimming pool, kayaking, mountain view, beautiful garden in the hotel, suitable for taking pictures. Cars can be parked next to the house, making it very convenient to pick up things. The balcony is wide, and there are many types of seats to choose from. I recommend you to try staying here.

The location is very good, the surrounding area is very lively, there are convenient supermarkets, many bars, good hotel equipment, and a good swimming pool. The room is clean and refreshing, with a jacuzzi. I will choose to stay here again next time I have the opportunity.
Inchantreedoopool

Location is good, walking distance of 10 to 15 mins to all major attractions,7-11 and resturants. However, the lane gets eerily dark after 7pm. The rooms are really spacious and the bed is superb. The bathroom is also good. Breakfast needs to be improved for vegans or vegetarians, as the standard options cater only to non-vegetarians. There is no lift so people who have difficulty climbing 2 or 3 floors need to consider that aspect. The staff is really amazing and very friendly. The rooftop swimming pool is good but not cleaned so we did not use. The view from the property is not of the River Qwai so if that is a must, do not select this hotel. Toiletries do not include a separate conditioner, and only 1 ltr of free water is provided daily. Overall, it was good stay, but I will stay next time on riverside hotels.
The Bridge Residence Hotel

Comfortable and well-serviced lodgings, friendly & helpful staff with adequate level of English, excellent buffet breakfast - great selection - with choice of indoor / outdoor dining. There's a café out front which is a great spot for leisurely people-watching, and becomes a bar in the evening. Cleanest public bathroom in all of Thailand in café area! Swimming pool was clean and partly shaded when I used it. Fitness room was basic. Numerous eateries and bars in the area, although it's at the quieter end of the street. 7-11 very close-by. Walking distance to night market and other attractions. Excellent and cheap laundry service nearby (30 baht per kg!). I'll stay here again.
Sam's House Kanchanaburi

The guest house has a range of rooms from more modern concrete structures to wooden cottages set on wooden piers in a quiet tributary of the River Kwai. We were upgraded to a riverfront cottage, of which there are about four. The others are set slightly back but still have a river view. It’s a budget guest house, (we paid around £20 per night and stayed 3 nights) so don’t expect any frills. Things are a bit worn but it was clean enough and the bed was the comfiest I’ve had in Asia. We used our own mosquito net but even after a lot of recent rain we had no problem with insects. One slightly disconcerting thing was that the shower, and I believe though not certain, that the toilet flushes straight into the river! Despite that there is plenty of wildlife around, lots of birds and one morning we saw a 4 foot monitor lizard swim across the river. It’s very central- 5 mins walk to bars, restaurants, supermarkets etc. in spite of that and the fact that it was a holiday weekend it seemed quiet with lots of spare rooms and we slept very well. We enjoyed our time here and would come again.

I cannot comment on the Hotel itself as we did not stay there but their customer service was fantastic. We had to cancel our accommodation at short notice as Thai Airways had cancelled our flight meaning we could no longer stay there, despite us going over the cancellation period they were so accommodating in offering us a full refund. They did not have do this so thank you Good Times Resort
Binlha Raft Resort

The accommodation is located in Sai Yok District, Kanchanaburi Province, convenient to travel. There is enough parking and then from the parking lot, a short walk to the room. The accommodation has both a sheet and a room type, where the rooms on the shore have a private swimming pool as well. There is a restaurant that is delivered directly to the room, good taste, inexpensive. The rooms are spacious, clean and well maintained, there may be a problem with water leakage a little at the bathroom. As for the mattress, the view is considered beautiful, and you can clearly see the river view and have a natural view as well, as well as the swimming pool in front of the room is beautiful, allocated as well. It is an affordable price compared to a room with a private pool elsewhere. There will be only one thing to complain about that the breakfast is provided as if it is less, not enough, and the main equipment is lacking. Such as cutlery Makes you have to walk and ask for another one, which here must be quickly improved and fixed. We ordered 2 types of breakfast, boiled rice, you brought a spoon, but in a set of fried egg and work bread, or you don't even have a cutlery. How do we eat? You have to see it here. For other services, it's good when checking out. There will be fruit from the owner who grows himself into mango for all guests. Thank you very much. For serving breakfast in the morning, I recommend this. In case you will serve food in a box, you must prepare your equipment and make it more convenient. The Nordic one-time and disposable is neat to match the box meal that you have prepared. In the dishes, if you don't need to use the dishes that you have to go back to wash, you should use it once and throw away if you want to keep distance. Because it's like this, you still have to come back and bring the cutlery back. Still, it is a waste of time and it is a bad mood. I should have breakfast as well because it is sheep out and there is no spoon, no fork. Serving box food must be considered and meticulous about the comfort of the customers who come to stay as the main thing. If the appearance is done in a request, it will look not okay and the guest will accept it. I can realize that you don't care as much as you should, so if you have to serve food in a box, you will disturb you to take care of the availability of dining equipment again. As for the atmosphere of the room and the cleanliness, everything else is good. Please improve this.
