Cardedeu Express Hotel

This place is great. Very laid back and the staff are incredible. Located on a quiet part of San Benito the property itself is small and intimate with decent sized rooms with modern conveniences. I especially like the smart tv. Decor is quirky and nice. My first floor room contained one queen bed with a small desk and well working AC. The bathroom is huge with big shower and modern touches. Check in was smooth. The hotel still uses regular metal keys and as a joke, there’s an art mosiac piece hanging that consists of nothing but electronic key cards from other hotels around the world. Morning continental breakfast is light but enough to get you going fo rthe day: cheese, bread, toaster, cold cuts, coffee, OJ, hard boiled eggs, and cereal.

Excellent stay as usual here, fantastic service and the food is local so you can walk to and from the hotel with ease. Benihanas is definitely a go to spot! The rooms are cute and comfortable, perfect for a solo getaway and time to rest, highly recommended!

Fairfield by Marriott San Salvador

This is just a generic hotel, but I used points. Hotel has a security guard 24-7. Front desk staff speaks good English and everyone was friendly. Location is next to a mall and so the food choices are pretty much all chain restaurants. There is a grocery store about 10 minute walk away and pharmacies within 5 minutes. Room itself was a good size and was clean. Bed was comfortable and AC was good. Television has a couple English stations. Water is provided on the first day, but not on subsequent days (this should be changed). There is a fridge in the room. There was plenty of hot water and good water pressure. Shampoo and soap provided, but no lotion or conditioner. Breakfast included coffee/tea, hot buffet items (eggs, beans, pupusas), and continental items (yogurt, fruit, cereal). Overall, this was just OK. But I was solo and wanted to be sure I was in a safe area.

I stayed at this hotel for six nights and found it to be in a very safe area. The building ifself was clean and well-maintained. The breakfast provided was enjoyable, and the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating.

Kartagus Hotel

I recently reviewed this hotel via another forum for which I used to book a reservation and they replied back that in the 5 years in business and thousands of customers served, they've never received a negative comment with a hatred intent - nothing can be further from the truth as ownership should be focusing on areas of improvements so as to provided quality service to keeps customers satisfied and avoid sad words. To summarize my experience, the WIFI connectivity is terrible everywhere that I could not work on my laptop so I had to use my personal cellphone data in order to connect to the internet. The hot water was another issue as it is sporadic, and sometimes there was none especially when taking a shower. The family room, which I was giving with three beds, even though I had booked a single room when I checked in, was another blunder on their end but it was not cleaned everyday, the towels were not changed daily nor were my bed sheets ever changed during my three day stay. Breakfast is small in quantity and options are limited to what you can eat. Not sure if ownership thinks this is acceptable but running an establishment to accommodate people under these conditions, based on my experience, lacks even the basic standards of any hotel. I stayed at another hotel afterwards and more than made up for these inconveniences as this place which lacks decent amenities and ownership behavior is a total joke, even more so after responding to my review elsewhere but this is the type of behavior you would get to expect when deciding to stay here.
Plaza Hotel and Suites

Check in (possibly the slowest in the world on our visit) is at the Crown Plaza. Ask for directions to the old block on the other side of the pool as reception may not tell you. Rooms are much better value than at the main hotel; just discounted as they are older. But decent living room area and a microwave and coffee pot added. The pool is a nice size between the two buildings. Very helpful concierge arranged an airport taxi and pointed us in the right direction around the grounds when reception failed!

I have been hosted in this hotel twice. It is a very cozy place. The attention is magnificent. The food is very good and even they offered breakfast to take because my bus was leaving early. They also allowed me to check out late when my bus went out at 3PM. 100% recommended!
