The room rate was affordable and included free breakfast. The booking was actually for two people, but I stayed alone.
There are a few areas that could be improved. The room looked quite worn out, and the hygiene could be better. The bedsheet had stains that could not be cleaned off.
The water pressure was also very low. Unfortunately, my room was facing a shop lot with a disco, and the loud music and vibrations continued until around 2am, making it difficult to sleep.
On the positive side, the hotel provided two bottles of water, coffee, toothbrushes, and shower caps. Two small bottles of shower gel and shampoo were also provided, although there was no tissue box in the room.
Security felt good, with a standard hotel door lock system and lift access restricted to room card holders only.
The breakfast was good, with a standard Malaysian-style selection. Considering the room rate, it felt quite generous.
They also provide basement parking, which is very convenient for guests traveling by car.
We really liked this hotel a lot. On the groundfloor of the hotel there are shops, 2 restaurants, very convinient. There is a 10% discount for guest if you will eat there. Everyday cleaning, welcoming letter, staff was very friendly. Hotel has laundry room, gym. Cool design.
We Highly recommend it.
The place is clean and well managed. Self check in Malaysia is a surprise but works well. Each co living units has a few rooms but the main common room is well equipped with living space facilities. Location is also nice since it's close to the old town and everything is within walking distance. The parking space has tight entrance but could easily be managed by a seasoned driver. Would recommend to anyone looking for a nice and cheap place to stay
The hotel's strengths are the spacious rooms and the presence of a bathtub, making for a generally comfortable stay. The cleanliness was acceptable and met basic standards, but the overall environment was quite ordinary, with nothing particularly special about it.
The only minor letdown was the service details: even though we booked a triple room, they only provided two sets of toothbrushes and bath towels. We were even charged an extra RM5 for an additional bath towel, which was a bit disappointing.
Overall, if you're looking for a short stay and prioritize space and basic comfort, this hotel is a decent option, but there's room for improvement in terms of service details.
Cititel Express - Great Value in a Prime Location!
I had a pleasant stay at Cititel Express. While the rooms are not particularly spacious, they are very clean and well-maintained.
The staff were courteous, friendly, and genuinely helpful — they even allowed us an early check-in, which was much appreciated.
The hotel has a convenience store on-site, which is super handy. Location-wise, it’s excellent! Just a 5-minute walk to Concubine Lane, with plenty of eateries and attractions nearby, including the Han Chin Pet Soo Museum, Ho Yan Hor Museum, and the beautiful 22 Hale Street Heritage Gallery. The Kinta River is right across the road, making for a nice view and easy stroll.
The room was equipped with all the essentials: a good fridge, safe, powerful cold air-conditioning, and excellent water pressure in the shower.
Overall, a solid choice if you’re looking for a clean, comfortable, and well-located hotel in Ipoh. Highly recommended!
This was our first time staying here for a short staycation close to home, mainly to try out the hotel's newly completed mini waterpark. We arrived around 2:30 PM and couldn't check in early as the room wasn't ready yet, but we managed to get into our room by 2:45 PM, which was still fine for us😁
The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The mattress was okay-not super soft, but still comfortable enough for a good rest. The bathroom comes with a bathtub, which was a nice bonus. We especially loved the balcony view overlooking the greenery of Bukit Larut. It was very peaceful and relaxing🍀
We had tea and dinner at the coffee house. There was a good variety of menu options at affordable prices, and all the staff were friendly and helpful - especially the restaurant staff. Breakfast was also great, with plenty of choices and everything tasted delicious. My personal favorite from the breakfast buffet was the fried noodles😋
The mini waterpark was definitely the highlight of our stay. My son enjoyed it so much. There is a small fee per check-in (less than RM10), which I find very reasonable. However, I didn't notice any lifeguard on duty at the waterpark during our visit - maybe there was one at the adult pool area.
Overall, we had a really pleasant stay and felt that it was truly worth the price. The only downside is that parking is quite limited, and the parking area had quite a lot of bird droppings, so it was a bit dirty.
Other than that, everything was great and we highly recommend this hotel. We will definitely come back again for another staycation! 🥰
The entire place was incredibly clean, I mean, absolutely spotless, not a speck of dust anywhere. The bed was super comfortable and the room was very spacious. This is what the breakfast looked like after I got everything.
The room was clean and the hotel was new, but I could still hear motorbikes at 2 AM. Despite that, I was satisfied and will definitely book again if I return to Taiping.
The hotel is in a great location, but parking is a bit limited. The bed linen had a slight smell, but after I mentioned it, they quickly changed it, which was appreciated. The room cleaning service was excellent. The night staff didn’t seem as welcoming, but the morning staff was much friendlier. Overall, it was a pleasant stay!
The hotel is very clean and suitable for a family trip with a spacious living room. Rooms are very comfortable, got shower gel and hari dryer. Is also got gym room and swimming pool at level 12. Sure will visit for next time!

Very Good
The hotel is newly renovated. We love the view from the room that we can see the river. The hotel is very near to the train station, not more than 10 minutes by car.
Good location. It is quite silent place but not far away from town. Just walk about 5 min reached Ipoh old town and can have a cup of old town white coffee there. The service is friendly and the decorations of the hotel is high standard and make people feel so comfortable. The price we pay through trip.com is reasonable.
The hotel location is excellent, very convenient for business travellers. The room was clean and well-maintained, and the amenities provided were good. Service was average, could be improved with faster response from staff. Overall, a comfortable stay and good value.
Location in city center. Short walk to The Store. Opposite the famous Pusing Seafoid restaurant. Basement car park is provided. Ample oarking space. Room and beds are comfortable. Floor is a bit dusty. SK Magic water dispenser is provided at the lobby. Nice and cosy lobby. Carpet needs to be vacuumed properly. Breakfast is good. Wide variety. Super value! Highly recommended.
Thank you for bringing Bali to Ipoh without us buying ticket flights 🤭 the stay was lovely, suitable for anyone who’s looking for tranquility but still near to the town. Since our room was upgraded to the garden view room, the experience was top notch (and bigger Koi too! 😂) 10/10 would repeat again if we ever got to go Ipoh again.
Service was friendly and approachable, we were able to get fast attention from the front desk due to our room cards malfunctioned and in another instance one of the lift malfunctioned. Around 10 parking lots are ready for guests, with additional street parking. Room and bathroom size is still maneuverable for Asians, and the design is of minimalist and modern style at the same time. Sound proofing is near to none as we can hear other guests conversation, whether they are at the corridor or next room.
