Good location, excellent service , quiet & clean & modern hotel, good price to reserve it via online , room size is great ( not too small or not too big) , provide the locker free service at lobby , very convenient to take any transportation which is very closed to hotel, breakfast has many traditional Japanese food , is delicious ( suggest to provide little be more western food to the customers who may not enjoy eating daily Japanese food for breakfast) , having a traditional check in with staff and check out to use the machine which can save our time to line up long queue , have a large lobby for a rest ., having 7 eleven next to the hotel very convenient. I like they use a card to show the other guest which table is available as well as you don’t worried about someone just sit on when you go to take your food n easy for waiters clean the table for next guest too, smart arrangement 👍🏻for breakfast buffet
The Pocket Hotel Kyoto Karasuma Gojo

Accommodation that only sleeps for users who want to save accommodation costs. Facilities / rooms are new, clean and clean. The room is large enough to have a single bed (thick mattress). There is no TV, toilet, wash basin, shower booth and toilet are shared. Bed making, garbage disposal, self-service, amenities are only toothbrushes. It is a short walk from Gojo Subway Station, so it is easy to access and suitable for sightseeing. Considering the service side, I think the cospa is bad.

Stayed here for 6 nights. Staff fantastic, room modern with all usual Japanese up to date bathroom facilities. Just a 6 min walk from Kyoto central station so access to all other areas in Kyoto either by train, subway or bus very easy. Free extras were the afternoon tea, happy hour drinks and evening supper - rice with sauce and nibbles. A couple of the major Buddhist temples 5 ,10 and 20 mins walk also the Japanese railway museum. Loads of food choices at and around the station. Very clean and affordable.

Our group of 8 stayed in a total of 5 rooms at the Kyomachiya Ryokan Sakura Uru****ei and we enjoyed our stay, thought the location of the ryokan was convenient, thought the rooms and service were good, and thought the ryokan was good value. Our experience with the ryokan started well before our actual stay as we had booked different rooms before being sure how we would use and share the rooms and so had to e-mail the ryokan to re-arrange our reservations trading rooms between members because certain rooms we had booked were already sold out. Perhaps because of the pandemic and the strong post-pandemic recovery in tourist travel to Japan, response was a bit unreliable and I had to re-send some e-mails and follow up, even sometimes using Google translate to translate my message so that it would be easier to deal with. In the end, the ryokan was able to do a relatively complicated reorganization of our reservations. The ryokan is not very large so booking well in advance is highly recommended, particularly if you are looking at one of the special rooms such as the Sakura suite or the Urushi suite or the even more unique maisonette. I had booked the maisonette for myself, which is a special two storey room with a Japanese tatami mat sleeping area on the bottom floor and a Western sitting area on the top floor with direct access to the rooftop rock garden. I enjoyed sleeping on the tatami mats with the provided Japanese bedding but must admit I found the low table and right at floor level seats difficult and uncomfortable to use, particularly if I was using my laptop. The upstairs Western sitting area came to the rescue as there is a sofa and a coffee table which were comfortable to use for work on my laptop. The maisonette is really the best of both worlds and came with additional benefits including free booking of the private bath in the ryokan and your choice of a benefit with choices including breakfast or transit day ticket. The ryokan is located about 10 minutes walk away and a bridge across from the Gion area so our group easily walked there after dropping our luggage off at the hotel prior to the standard check in time. There are lots of casual restaurants nearby and the ryokan does hand out a handy map of the area around the ryokan listing a number of restaurant recommendations. Everything seems well organized at the ryokan, check in was efficient and they have many staff of different nationalities who speak a number of languages besides Japanese and English. The ryokan stored our luggage and by the time we returned from our walk to Gion, all of our luggage was correctly placed in each member’s room. We stayed 3 nights at the ryokan but only had the ryokan offered breakfast one time. There was a choice of Japanese, Western or Continental breakfast, which has to be ordered the night before. I had the Japanese breakfast and it was the standard grilled salmon with rice, miso soup and pickled vegetables. Breakfast was fine and

Was recommended to this by a friend. The room is really spacious. The living room comes with a sofa and a smart TV that you can screencast if you know how. There is a clothes rack and my room is next to the laundry room. Yes, you can do your washing and drying there. I did that on my third day there. There is also a balcony where you can hang your clothes out to dry. The access is secured by a reinforced glass slider, while the balcony is also secured by grills, giving one a good sense of security. The toilet comes with a tub, and a ventilator to prevent mould and mildew. There is a mini kitchen with a fridge, microwave, electric kettle and an induction top. There are bowls and pots too for light cooking if you like. Lets not forget, that they also provide umbrellas for guests use too! The amenities provided meets my needs. The location is not exactly the best however. Quite a bit of walking is required from Kyoto station, and/or from the bus stop from Kyoto Aquarium. But there are a few vending machines in the immediate vicinity and a mini stop convenience store just over at the Kyoto Aquarium there. But still acceptable given the room size and amenities. Overall a pleasant stay. Didnt manage to take the photos of the room. Just refer to the ones by the hotel. They painted quite an accurate picture.

Very comfortable beds & futon and enough room in the bedrooms, only negative was the luminous fire exit sign which was so bright when trying to sleep in the night and lots of dust under the beds. Location was lovely and convenient. It’s opposite Ippodo Tea shop which helps to locate the property on this quiet street. The norme hanging in front of the door says “Tsumugi” so we initially weren’t sure we were at the right place. I should’ve checked my emails to confirm we’d arrive directly at the property rather than pick up the key code from the desk at Kyoto station (for some reason I thought the reception was at the property! my mistake!) so we had to wait for someone to cycle over from the station, difficult waiting in the summer heat but also appreciated him peddling there in a hurry! There were only 3 sets of bowls and chopsticks and could have done with a toaster and tea towel for drying dishes as there is no draining rack but otherwise the kitchen was fine for a short stay. It would also be good to have some way of hanging laundry other than the few hangers which I could hook on to the door frames. Despite these little things I would probably stay here again as it was nice and quiet, comfortable, clean, convenient and nice design aesthetics.

I stayed overnight on Saturday during the autumn leaves season in late November. I was able to stay at a very good price, probably because I made a reservation quite a while ago or because it was influenced by COVID-19. Moreover, it was a new hotel, so the evaluation is high. I went by city bus, but the nearest is Keihan Gojo. It is also within walking distance from Gojo Subway Station. The type of luggage is deposited in a dedicated locker (wire lock). I was grateful to the staff without hesitation, but it would be safer to have a bag that is locked firmly. There will be few cash payments, so there will be no problem even if it is limited to cashless payments. The interior is Japanese-conscious, so it will be accepted by foreigners as well. I didn't use it because breakfast was somewhere else, but it's a bit narrow next to the lobby on the 1st floor. It's in the middle of the city, so you won't have any trouble with convenience stores or restaurants. The department stores and downtown areas of Shijo Kawaramachi are within walking distance. The room is new and easy to use and there is no problem at all. If you have a good value plan, this is the hotel you want to use next time.

It’s a 15-20 minute walk from Kyoto station in a pretty dark alley. The place was very clean when we arrived. There nobody at the counter and we checked in late around 8pm. The staff were kind enough to email us the pass code to our rooms and allow us to check in pass the usual operating hours. We were in Kyoto for 4 nights. The location is convenient and it was clean when we checked in however the room wasn’t cleaned on a daily basis, probably only cleaned once before check in. It’s not ok if you’re someone who expects the room to be cleaned everyday or every couple of days, otherwise it’s fine The reception is located around 20-30 min walking distance from the inn(near Kyoto station). we wanted to leave our luggage at the reception for awhile after we check out, so we had to travel down to the reception with our luggage after checking out. We had our luggage transferred from Narita airport to the the inn. We had to email the staff for assistance as the reception is not located at inn. We overall had a good experience but do take note of the cons if your schedule/requirements are not as flexible. Staff replied to my emails very quickly and were very friendly and flexible.

In a Japanese-style room with a good atmosphere, the futon was fluffy and I could sleep soundly! The breakfast was more variety than expected and the taste was delicious! It wasn't a large room, but the cospa and location, cleanliness and service are all perfect! The front desk was also a nice person! In the room type I stayed in, I thought it was inconvenient for those with large luggage such as trunks, so I think it would be good to take a spacious room.

Kyoto Station
Amazing stay, cheap, good bed and nice breakfast. It’s just right when your doing a night in each city to check out what’s on offer. Will definitely recommend and stay again when passing this way. The breakfast is simple but tasty and filling, easy vegan food and something for the meat eaters seeking protein. It’s close to the station and simple to get around.
