The hotel facilities are relatively old, the breakfast is OK and quite rich, there is parking space, it is very quiet, the soundproofing is average, you can hear the snoring next door when you sleep, it is not suitable for traveling with children, but pets are allowed
This is a functional little hotel that is close to the train station. Don't expect luxury, but you can expect friendly and warm service, and a spacious room.
The reason I booked this hotel was due to the rail strikes. I was on a business trip and meant to be taking the train to London that evening but wasn't able to. Furthermore, it was the Cheltenham races and all the other places had already been booked out.
This room was a lifesaver for me. I was exhausted from an intense itinerary and needed a place to sleep and freshen up. I was pointed to the supermarket close by. As there were all the cutlery and even a microwave in the room, I had no issues rustling up a hot meal for myself.
I am giving this hotel a high rating because the overall experience exceeded my expectations. I just want to make it very clear that guests need to understand this is not a fancy establishment designed for holidaying, but if you are travelling for work purposes, this will come close to being home away from home.
Overall, the breakfast was OK. Although there were few choices, I had enough to eat. The location is good, there are large shopping malls and restaurants opposite, and it takes 10 minutes to get to the city center. There is also a large supermarket in isolation. The room is nice, but the lighting is too dark. Sound insulation equipment is relatively poor.
This town was outside our plan and gave us an unexpected surprise. It is a beautiful town, don’t miss it. The hotel room is not big, and there is free parking in the yard behind the hotel. The bathroom is a bit short. My husband is 189cm tall and has to lower his head and cannot stand up straight. Our room was on the second floor and there was no elevator. Fortunately, we didn't have to carry too many things up the stairs when we drove. The soundproofing is not very good, you can hear the conversation next door. The breakfast was great and the restaurant manager was very welcoming! Will go here next time.
A British country hotel. The century-old houses around it are worth seeing. The old-fashioned and historic layout compares with city hotels. Each has its own merits.
Spacious room. Quiet. Short distance to Cheltenham Spa train station. Very close to Waitrose.
However, no phone signal when in the room. We had to use Hotel wifi which is extremely slow.

CChristopherI actually live in the neighborhood around this hotel, but I booked it to host a friend for the weekend. It's not the easiest option in the vicinity to walk to from the train station, though the walk which goes along the canal for most of the way is super scenic if you have time to spare on arrival. The cab to the hotel was also fairly quick and cost us about fifteen quid.
Check-in was super convenient and casual, and the girl working walked us up to the room to introduce all the amenities and features of our room. The room was well equipped but it was a little bit of a disappointment that it didn't have a mini fridge - there aren't a lot of food options or supermarkets in easy walking distance from the hotel, so we had brought some items with us that we had to leave on the windowsill to keep chilled.
Overall though the room was great. The lower level living room was a super comfy spot to chill and eat, and then the raised bedroom was incredibly cosy. I'm 5'11” and I will say I almost took myself out on the sloped walls a few times - I imagine anyone taller would have to be very careful. I've noticed that showers in this area generally aren't super hot or pressurised, but the setup here wasn't too bad.
The pub below is of course super charming, a great place to sit with a pint and watch the sunset, though we didn't try the food. I will probably come back to this pub, and would stay in the inn again if I ever have any reason to.
GGuest UserThe Mousetrap Inn proved to be an excellent choice for our recent getaway. The location is absolutely perfect – just a pleasant walk to the main town, giving us easy access to local attractions, shops, and restaurants while enjoying peaceful surroundings.
What truly made our stay memorable was the genuinely friendly staff. From check-in to checkout, every team member was welcoming and helpful, going out of their way to ensure we had everything needed. Their local knowledge and recommendations enhanced our entire visit.
The included breakfast was a real highlight and exceptional value. Fresh, well-prepared options with plenty of variety kept us satisfied each morning before exploring. It's rare to find complimentary breakfast that actually exceeds expectations.
The inn maintains a cozy, welcoming atmosphere that perfectly matches its charming name. Clean, comfortable accommodations combined with the convenient location made it easy to enjoy both tranquil relaxation and vibrant town center activities.
Highly recommended for friendly service, great value, and ideal location.

GGuest UserThe staff greeted us with a warm and welcoming smile. The room was well laid out and very clean.
We ate in the restaurant on our first night and the food was excellent. The service was prompt, efficient and friendly. Margaret made us feel right at home.
The service in the bar was attentive and efficient. The barman was friendly and helpful.
The full English breakfast gave us a great start to the day. There was plenty of choice and the service was quick and friendly.
Parking on site was secure and there were plenty of spaces.
We would definitely recommend this hotel and look forward to returning in the near future.
PPedrampanEgypt Mill Hotel is an absolutely wonderful place to stay! The rooms are clean and well-maintained, with the added bonus of having coffee provided in the room. The restaurant is fantastic, offering delicious meals in a lovely setting. The location is perfect, right on the river, with amazing views that create a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Overall, it left a really great impression, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable stay!
GGuest UserVery good location in the town, just near the model village, hotel guest can get free tickets for the village.
Breakfast is great.
Staff are quite friendly and nice.
Car parking made a few confused, carpark is very limited at daytime, and you need to pay for carpark for hole day because car park is operated by the same company.
A lot of cute bees flying around the hotel, some will fly into the room, you may need to shut the window…hah!
