Castle Hostel

Castle Hotel is the best place to discover Cairo! It felt like home to me. I was in 8 different hotels in Cairo on my tour: castle hotel is my family and my choice no1 now. I know where to go to on future trips. Castle Hotel :) The hotel is located in the 16th floor, so you have the best view you can find. You can see so far. You can the city, the Nile, a little bit of a pyramid. Best traffic connection because ramses street. Shops 1 minute walk. Abu tarek koshari 5 minute walk, river Nile 5 minute walk. The staff is amazing. Friendly, always willing to help, welcoming, discrete. It’s a very nice vibe up there. The sounds of the city far away. Very relaxing. Next time I book an extra night just to enjoy the view. It’s just vibrant there and you feel the energy of the city. Can’t wait to come back! Thank you for everything! See you!
Cairo Dream Boutique Hotel
3.6/59 Reviews
This ”hotel” is a scam. It is a room in an empty derelict building. The front entrance is wide open. There is no reception or security. It is not a hotel although comes up in a search for a hotel. I was fooled by the name ”Cairo Dream Boutique Hotel”. It is a nightmare. There was a poor looking guy sitting on a chair outside the building. By western standards, this place was worse than scary. I booked this accommodation on ******* and all nights needed to be paid up front (unusual). I arrived late at night. A guy in an old dirty car picked me up at the airport and he was the ”hotel transfer”. That was the first red flag. He was parked at least a 10 minute walk from the airport. On the way to the address, driver wanted to stop the car for gas . . . I was asked if I would like some food in my room. They would arrange for something to be delivered. By now I was starting to get worried and asking if it was a real hotel. I did not get a straight answer. When we arrived it was off the main area of traffic in a dark street. The door to the building was wide open. There was no one around. The building sounded empty and hollow. Curious and trying to not base everything on western standards, I went to the room. Then when we got to the floor still no one around. The hallway was dark. The driver opened the door of the room. It was also dark with a dim bulb lit. I saw two beds but it was so dark I could barely make out what was in the room. I did not go in - I was afraid of being alone with driver and being raped in the room. The pictures on the ******* website are fake. They show beds with white linen and furniture. There was only two beds in the room next to the wall. Windows were wide open over the bed. The elevator did not work to go down and I ran down 7 flights of stairs with my bag. I could not get out of there fast enough. It was almost midnight and I just wanted to go back to the airport. The person who registered this site with ******* was fully paid for each night booked. When they were contacted by ******* they said that I did not ”check in” and therefore not eligible for a refund. Frightening experience and set the tone for the rest of my visit to Cairo. To be aware, and that there are no regulations. People can fool authorities and be certified to list with fake pictures of an accommodation. I am a seasoned traveler and have traveled through the middle east a lot - this location was the worst - an area I would not walk through - let alone stay in. I appreciate everyone needs to make a living, but the name of this accommodation and the website are completely misleading. A complete scam. I lost my trust in everything and everyone from that point including booking sites. Will be doing my research with regard to reviews and stick to a chain hotel for arrival. Then visually inspect a potential accommodation after arrival.

Cairo Inn
3.4/548 Reviews
A very soul hotel located on the most beautiful round square of Cairo. In general, Cairo is worth living either in the center (Dauntaun/Island Zamalek) or already in Giza near the pyramids (if you only care about them). If you choose the center, the area of Talat Harb Square, where Cairo Inn is located, is one of the best options in price-quality ratio. It is not as expensive as in ”big” hotel networks, but the level of comfort is noticeably higher than in cheap host hotels, which are scattered around different corners in the center. To the main attractions of the center can be reached on foot. The hotel is located on 2-3 the floor of a beautiful building ”in Paris style” which comes to the area. The most classy rooms have small balconies with a table where you can have breakfast (a table with breakfast is brought to the room), Sitting in the evenings and even smoking calyan (his for the extra fee will bring to you). But it is necessary to bear in mind that the windows on the square are constant noise from cars, and the eternal biking of Cairo drivers is truly legendary. The design of the room is made in the style of ”eastern chic,” although not without small cosies (badly closed the door on the balcony, lacked roses, etc.), but it is more petty, in general everything is comfortable. The hotel has a perfectly beautiful Joseph, with whom we have practically been friends. He helped solve any issues and problems, for example, changed us the euro to Egyptian pounds at a very good rate when the surrounding ATMs didn't help us with it. In general, we are very happy, then again stayed in this hotel (for acquaintance with the city - the perfect place).
Cleopatra Hotel

General impression - a normal place to stay for a few nights. Perfect location nearby Egyptian Museum and the Sadat subway station. But this causes a very noisy surrounding: honking cars move just beneath the windows all day long. Helpful staff. A very nice cafe La Poire accessible without leaving the building. Good breakfast, a lot of options changing daily. Coffee could have been better though. The room was cleaned (I moved two beds together and found no dust underneath), but it's quite weary. The window lock didn't work, the fridge was loud. Black mold in the shower was upsetting, too. No iron nor ironing board in the room, but ironing service available at a reasonable price about 50 EGP per piece.
1920s Boutique Hotel and Restaurants

A gem of a small boutique hotel in a great location & good area. Rooms are unique & although the building old the bathroom modern & the beds very comfortable. Great service & very attentive & helpful staff. There are several restaurants within the hotel, offering a diverse option of cuisines. Breakfast is served in the Carlos restaurant & excellent. My only criticism, after enjoying one cocktail & making the decision to come back & eat later, they charged all of the service & local taxes but worse a cover charge. This small incident left me a bit annoyed & needless to say, I didn't go back to eat. Other than this small thing I had a lovely experience staying here & would highly recommend.
ELITE MOTEL

It's good~ There are no disadvantages except that it is a double bed~ The wireless network is not very good, but it can be used! The network in Egypt seems to be not very good... This is already excellent!
Grand Palace Hotel
3.5/526 Reviews
I have been staying at Grand Palace for some time. I have been quite comfortable in my stay here, quite happy with my room, and particularly happy with the staff, who have done so much for me. They are now friends of mine and I have no intention of moving to another hotel. I highly recommend anyone stay here, and again, can't say enough about how helpful the staff have been for me.
New Star Zamalek Hotel

After experiencing some problems on our first day arriving in Egypt, we managed to find this hidden Gem in Zamelek. We were welcomed with happy faces from the staff especially the doorman who was super friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and matched the photos provided by the hotel. I would recommend this as it is good value for money and right by 26th July street where you can shop and eat till your heart is content.
Golden Hotel Cairo
3.6/515 Reviews
Golden Hotel is right in the heart of downtown Cairo's action. A short walk to Tahir square, the museum and the metro. Be warned, downtown is noisy. And you take your life into your hands every time you cross the road. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The English spoken ranged from excellent to passable. Room was fairly small but cosy. The small bathroom was ok, just a sectioned off part of the room, hot water a bit patchy. No ventilation of it's own. There was a balcony, tv and fridge (not stocked with drinks as the booking site suggested.) The wifi did not work especially well, but I was later to discover that this was the best I'd find in any hotel in Egypt. They picked me up from the airport and also took me on a couple of other trips (Giza and Saqqara.) My only real issue with the place was the lack of breakfast. They said this was due to corona. I have tried to verify this but have not been able to. My booking on ********** stated breakfast was included. They said they had tried to get this changed but had not managed to do so. I just just checked again now (stayed there a couple of weeks ago) and it still states breakfast is included. So I would suggest that they are not trying very hard. This basically constitutes false advertising. There was no restaurant either (booking site said there was.) The owner told me I could buy a cup of coffee if I wanted. I took this as a slap in the face, I had paid for breakfast and should have had a discount, let alone pay for coffee. Would I have stayed here had I realised there wasn't any breakfast? Probably not, it's a hassle going to find food before one starts one's day of site seeing. But I wasn't gonna move once I was there. I would check this out before booking. Aside from the breakfast issue, this is a solid option.
