Socialtel la Fortuna - Formerly Selina la Fortuna

Whilst this is technically a hostel, it is far better than some hotels we stayed in! Rooms are great (good air con, hot water, good storage); facilities superb (pool, business lounge, kitchen/food prep area, pool table, great bar); well organised trips (the zip line followed by hot springs is a must!); very helpful staff; and the food delicious (tuna steak with salad delightful)
Los Lagos Spa & Thermal Resort Experience

A cost-effective hotel. The resort is very big. It’s best to have a car. If you don’t have a car, you can call a shuttle. The breakfast is very good. There are 8 hot spring pools inside. The volcano viewing spot is even more beautiful than the national park. I really recommend it.
Hotel Martino Spa and Resort

Ghost hotel, huge grounds but with minimal number of guests. Furniture and room, bathroom were very outdated. Smelled funny inside. Cleaning staff left cleaning supplies in the bathroom by accident. One of the bedrooms had no window and the lighting in the whole apartment was very dark. Air conditioning worked well. The rooms are large and comfortable however my mattress was lopsided and I kept falling off the bed all night. No shampoo or soap provided and shower had some animal poop. The restaurant staff was ok but not the friendliest. Minimal vegan options at the restaurants. Breakfast was also not the best. Rice and beans had minimal flavor, fruit was good but for a vegan not many other options such as bread or avocado. The pool looked great but didn’t have much shade provided with umbrellas or trees. The gym was closed. Would not stay here again as it didn’t feel very vacation like.
Villa San Ignacio

I read summer great reviews of this place and it did not disappoint. There are small trails on the property. Stunt get excited, they are small but you are not next to another building! The pool is nice but not heated. If you are from the NE US, you are used to it. Or was refreshing especially after being in the sun for a bit. The hotel is nicely kept but more of a local style which I prefer more than the standard hotel room. The room is beautiful and the bed is comfy. You can't go wrong here. Many people I met do the same thing, spend the last night in Costa Rica before flying out. Very secure, not much near, but the best ends to your pura vida vacation.
Arenal Manoa Resort & Hot Springs

From the time that we arrived, we were impressed. The coffee is strong and flavorful. We arrived to a welcome basket on our bed and in our fridge for our anniversary celebration! The view of Arenal was amazing— from our bed! (suite 215) The included breakfast is phenomenal— so much to choose from. My fave is the made-to-order omelet station! We did not have Lunch on property because we were out exploring Arenal/La Fortuna region. We did have pizza at the poolside wood-fired pizza oven bar. They made a custom pizza with chicken, basil, olive oil, and tomatoes. That was the bomb! 💣 Service is spot on. The grounds are kept in immaculate condition— Gardening is exceptionally beautiful everywhere you look! October is the perfect time in my opinion to visit if you want low crowds – – we had the thermal pools (7-8 pools) mostly to ourselves. We visited eight properties while in Costa Rica and this one was our absolute favorite! Hands down— pun may be intended. 😉
Heliconias nature Inn and Hot Springs

This is a magical resort with amazing staff. We were welcomed with open arms and Diego made the check in super easy. Once we got to the room there was the coolest surprise waiting since it was my 50th birthday! The treehouse was literally like living alone in the jungle but with all the facilities you could want near by. Every morning we saw green cheeked parakeets from our window, toucans and lots of other endemic birds. The staff set up all of the tours we wanted to do including transportation. And when we had to be picked up early they always accommodated us for a huge breakfast! Jimmy was one of our new buddies as he helped with breakfast in the morning and also took us on a night tour where we saw a kinkajou, spectacle owl, and lots of frogs . He was super knowledgeable about the flora and fauna and it was an amazing tour. For dinner, the food was out of this world!!! If I could rate it a 10 I would!! A huge thank you to the entire staff . Hopefully we will be back one day!
Hotel Linda Vista

I have to say that the price of the ordinary room is super high. He is located on the edge of the volcano and the volcanic lake. The staff at the front desk are very warm and patient. The view of the infinity pool is also invincible nearby. 11. When we lived on the 16th, I loved his balcony and sat on the bench to enjoy a few days of isolation, but I suggested that friends with a relatively high living environment choose the hotel's exquisite suites. The bathroom in the ordinary room is a bit cramped and there is no refrigerator and hair dryer. Breakfast is fixed type 1, there are not many choices, fruit has a small piece of pineapple, a small piece of watermelon and papaya is very small, we asked for one more fruit on the first day but charged 2 knives the next day. Because the restaurant under the mountain is about one kilometer away, we still used dinner in the restaurant and the taste was good.
Courtyard San Jose Airport Alajuela
4.5/5109 Reviews
The hotel is next to the airport. There is a shuttle that oicks you up and takes you there every 30 minutes; they should make it every 15 minutes being so close. There is a Walmart next to the hotel and 3 restaurants in fron of the lobby: peruvian, argentinian and costa rican. The gym had everything and breakfast was ok, but not great.
Noah's Forest Hotel by Tifakara

My husband and I stayed at Noah’s Forest in October and it was the most AMAZING experience! The location is easy to find, the whole facility of Noah’s Forest was perfection! The best part was the service we received from each one of your staff members. They are the so wonderful! We really bonded with Adrian, you are so lucky to have him!! He made our experience so much better than we even expected. We will be back again and hopefully often. Thank you so much for this incredible experience, we never wanted to leave.
Poas Volcano Lodge

My husband and I booked an impulsive last minute stay here when we needed to overnight while in the San Jose area. We knew we didn't want to stay in San Jose and after a little searching this beautiful mountain area sounded right up our alley. We were so glad we chose this place! The lodge is really stunning and has Welsh influences as well as Frank Lloyd Wright influences in the design. A bit of modern meets old school and it really creates a cozy and welcoming environment. Our room had a fireplace and a private garden area that was so lovely (and it gets chilly at night in this region so we definitely enjoyed using the fireplace! Though there was a heater available for use as well). It was a really cozy and inviting space. The bed was extremely comfortable and the linens, too. My husband particularly loved the spacious bathroom with the incredible rain shower. We enjoyed dinner as well as breakfast in the dining room and both were outstanding. The steak was like butter! And it would be a shame to miss out on their homemade granola and jam. We arrived at night so we discovered the grounds are utterly beautiful on the morning of our stay. Definitely make time to hike one of the trails (they have maps in each room) and visit the pretty little greenhouse on the property. We were gasping over the beauty of the farmland where this hotel sits and hopeful that we'll return for another stay in the future. Truly a beautiful and comfortable stay.
