Let’s start with the bad before going into the good and ok: We had an issue with the cleaning staff throwing our things away - this included things like the sleeping nose strips, face mask packets, and the last straw was our contact lens cleaner. While these items seemed like trash to the cleaner, these were important things that we needed on our trip that we could not purchase in China. While we don’t believe it is a case of theft, we absolutely could not understand why the staff would make the decision on what is or is not trash, and throw them away when the items were on the desk and not at the dustbin. The story by the cleaning staff had flipped multiple times, where she said she didn’t throw our items, the next moment saying she never seen the item before, and then after that saying she only throw things in the trash and won’t touch anything else. After a whole morning of speaking and arguing with the cleaning staff, the manager of the cleaning staff (who tried to protect her staff so hard), and the hotel manager who tried his best to resolve it, we left as we had to catch our flight. While these items were of low monetary value, these are things that we needed daily, without which would affect our lives. My take is - stay at your own risk, and if you do stay here, lock all your items in your pouches and bags. Things left on the bedside table could be thrown away, since the cleaner was making the judgment call to do so. Location is amazing - it’s right above Tiantong Road Station, which is an interchange. Very convenient getting to Shanghai station (for intercity travel) and the main tourist areas. Room is very warm during the winter months. Central heating and temperature cannot be adjusted. Temperature went up to 29 degrees Celsius. We mentioned to the staff the first night and they told us to open the windows which we did, and then it got so hot to the point we had to ask for a fan (which they were initially not the most willing to give, asking us to turn the heating off, open the windows, asking us how long we have turned everything off for). In the end, it was resolved so this was ok. What would otherwise have been a perfect stay for a week long trip in Shanghai, was made extremely frustrating and unpleasant when we found out my things were thrown away. While the staff can argue and say that they were trained in Hong Kong, they have years of experience etc., such edge cases doesn’t equal per training, but boils down to the individual. I hope Ji Hotel does something to correct the behaviour of that particular cleaning staff and the cleaning staff manager.
Ji Hotel (Shanghai People's Square)

I had a great time here. The environment and service were very good. The location was very convenient. You can walk to the subway station, bus station, Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street. You don't have to worry about food. You can walk to it. There are milk tea shops everywhere. Although the room is not big, it is enough for two people.
Qinhe House

Shanghai Disney Resort
We arrived after 10pm, and the boss was still very welcoming. The room was big, with plenty of hot water, powerful air conditioning, complete daily necessities, and cleaned every day. There were cute cats and dogs in the yard. There was a special car service to Disneyland, and the breakfast was also very good and filling. If you want to go to Disneyland, this is the first choice. It is very suitable for family travel. We came with three adults and one child.
GEM Hotel (Shanghai Bund Nanjing East Road Pedestrian Street shop)

People's Square Area
Note: the hotel name is in fact GME Hotel (格美). Location for this place is superb, few minutes walking distance from Nanjing Pedestrain street. But was initially hard to find as the hotel occupies several floors of a building (亚太广场) and the entrance to the lift lobby is not facing the main road. Helpful to have a washing machine (3.5kg) and one sachet of detergent liquid was provided. The flooring and table tops have some scratches but doesn’t quite matter if you are out most of the day. Amenities are pretty basic - shampoo/ conditioner/ shower gel, toothbrush and small toothpaste and a comb.
Weiting Qingju Hotel (Songjiang University Town)

Sheshan, Songjiang University Town
We loved our 4-night stay (with a 6-hour extension) in this hotel. On top of a really good service, we got free breakfast, too. The breakfast is Asian style. Being Filipinos, we enjoyed it. We had the Chinese version of ”buchi,” ”lumpia,” ”chao fan,” ”siopao,” and more. We also had orange juice, soy milk, milk, coffee, and water for drinks. If you are looking for a Western style breakfast, there is KFC and Starbucks right at the Metro Station area (or subway), where you can also ride Line 9. We ate burgers bought at KFC, my mother found the burger with tomatoes delicious. They have free bottled water, provided with a kettle and tea. There is also a robot that serves as the hotel delivery boy. :-) I wish we could have a robot like that at home. :-D The people at the hotel are really great. We wish to say hello to Ms. Zhao Ming Di, who assisted us and was very helpful and resourceful. :-) They've got hot shower, with shampoo and soap provided. Towels are included, too. You can watch Hollywood movies on their TV, too. We played ”The Mummy,” ”Gladiator,” etc. We also watched a Chinese movie ”Shaolin Popey” with English subtitles. :-) If you wish to extend your stay at this hotel, you can pay 25RMB/hour for your room. If you are a nature lover, this hotel is near Sheshan Hill (Line 9 Sheshan Metro Station). In fact, the Sheshan area itself has its own tourist spots (not just the Catholic church and the space observatory. There are many others.). They are not as famous as The Bund area, of course, but you will like the Sheshan area if you have the chance and the effort to explore it. I sincerely wish we were able to explore the Sheshan area more, but we only spent a few hours and we spent all of it on the top of the Sheshan hill. If you want to buy sweets and goods to take home, this hotel is near Qibao Ancient Town (Line 9 Qibao Metro Station). There are many shops there and their prices are much lower than those in The Bund. My mother bought many things at Qibao, like candies, toys, a comb, etc. I bought a pocketwatch. They also sell Chinese traditional clothes there. There is also a high-end shopping mall right next to the Qibao Metro Station, the name is Vanke Mall, in case you wish to buy Western-brand goods and have Western-style meals. The hotel itself is also near a park, but we didn't get a chance to walk in that park. I checked it on a map, it looked huge. Maybe, next time we will. :-)

Da Zhong Airport Hotel

Pudong International Airport Area
Location is superb as the only hotel within pudong airport. I strongly recommend for those who just need an overnight stay to catch a flight next morning. Staff is happy to help but there isn’t much they can do due to the condition of the hotel.
Zhenyue Hotel

The North Bund Area
I would not recommend staying at this hotel. It's an old hotel with outdated facilities, including the air conditioning, and it didn’t feel very clean. The service at the front desk was average, though the housekeeping aunties were nice. The breakfast was quite old-fashioned and didn’t feel fresh. The overall atmosphere had an outdated vibe, and it seemed like a spot for tour groups of older folks. There were only three family rooms, and although the room was spacious, we had to walk quite far to reach the last room at the corner, which didn’t feel safe.

The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful night’s sleep after a long day of exploring Shanghai. Additionally, the room featured high-speed internet access, a flat-screen TV with international channels, and a well-stocked minibar. The bathroom was equally impressive, equipped with high-quality toiletries and a powerful shower that provided a refreshing experience. Location Benefits The hotel’s location in Zhongshan Park is another significant advantage.
