Good location if you are traveling on public transport. We came from Colmar by train and the hotel is only a short taxi ride from the station. It is not an area for cafes, restaurants etc. as there is nothing around. There is a tram just up from the hotel and you can take this into the heart if the city. We didn’t as it was only an overnight stay and we were too tired. We contented ourselves with a snack from a machine in the lobby. The room was small but for one or two nights not a problem. Bed was comfortable, water hot and WiFi good. We left too early for breakfast so can’t comment on the food. The young lady on reception was very helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend for short stays. Great value for the price we paid, AU$97.

I booked a night in a single room with Lavabo - the price is currently at 95,- CHF + 4,- courtage. I am not in a hotel because I wanted to save money and Switzerland is much more expensive than Germany. Benefits of youth hostels: The booking includes a Basel card that allows you to use all the public service free of charge. Furthermore, you pay only 50% of the entry at museums etc. Another advantage: the location of the youth heritage very central, but still quiet (only with regard to the city event), in the old town very close to the Rhine. You can walk to the center. The neighborhood is idyllic. I had a room with windows on the opposite side of the Rhine, there cooled it in spite of a hot summer day in the night nicely from another advantage: breakfast is quite good, it is already ready from 6:00, and the coffee/cappucino from the machine is of high quality. However, one must pay for a cappucino outside the breakfast hours CHF 4.00. A room without shower/WC with Lavabo is easy because there are enough toilets and single showers available on the floor. And a good shower bathtub was to be borrowed for 3,- CHF. The staff of the youth hostels were very friendly. Most other guests do not, often my greeting was not answered on the hall. Now to the disadvantages that weigh more seriously for my needs than the benefits: first of all the relative brightness. Relatively because the construction substance appears normal in this respect, but the behaviour of other guests is ignorant. At the time of my stay, many families with small children were present, some of which let their children cry unremittingly (without pain or dispute) - the children cry partly for fun at crying, in the rooms, but also, Because it is so beautiful in the concrete halls, and well because the parents thought that all could be left in a youth hostel. I didn't say anything to these families because I know from experience that it doesn't bring anything and because I just stayed a night. But I have spoken to the staff, but nothing has been done (that is probably also useless for them). I myself visited Basel to look at a lot of art, and I am a guy who needs a guest room as a place of withdrawal even daily to get back. The impressions in this interesting city are overwhelming. This youth hostel is not suitable for this. I could only sleep with earstops, and that's only uncomfortable. Unfortunately, the room can only be obtained from 15:00 - I would have wished to be able to rest a little before and make me fresh after the long arrival of a hot day (but probably it would have been too loud to rest). In the room there are no hooks or similar to hang towels or clothes. Also in the toilets

It is an apartment hotel with kitchen and kitchen utensils and spacious rooms. It is a 5-minute walk from the bus station and supermarket, and transportation and life are very convenient. In addition, the hotel has a laundry room and I am generally satisfied with my stay for a week.

Hotel Schweizerhof location is excellent, only 2 minutes walk from the Main Train Station, and the city tram station is just in front of the hotel. They also provide us a free city tram bus ticket for our stay which is a bonus. We just slide our luggage onto the tram and then get off at the pier, only 15 minutes ride, to embark on our river cruise, so convenient. The staff is also nice and recommended restaurants to us. 👍👍

Stayed for a Night with BA Holidays for a Night with the excellent Breakfast included. Forget getting a Taxi or Transfer just hop on the 50 Bus at the Airport for a free 5 Minute journey to a stop within spitting distance of the Hotel. The same Bus carries on into Basel Centre. The Hotel has it's own service but that had finished by the time I landed. Your Hotel Reservation is your ticket for free public transport until it is supplanted by the Basel Card issued by the Hotel on Check In. This card valid for the duration of your stay also provides substantial discounts on various attractions Room was modern, a good size and excellent shower. The Breakfast (Light from 4.30am) Buffet from 0600-1000 had a wonderful selection of hot and cold items catering for a diversity of tastes. One of the drawbacks- although the room had a kettle there were no tea or coffee supplies or fridge. Overall a wonderful mid-range establishment with easy access to the Airport and City Centre.

I was very grateful for the early check in without any quibble with the receptionist, and she explained how we can get around. Room was very comfortable and clean. Breakfast had a good choice of hot and cold foods, with variations every day. I would definitely stay here again. The only discomfort with our room was the temperature in our room was set to 19C, which was comfortable during the day, but was a bit too hot for the night for us, and we couldn’t lower the temperature down.

I was confused before I arrived in person, so I will clarify the situation for you. There is an elevator that goes up to the fourth floor. The wheelchair accessible rooms have roll-in showers. There are bathtubs in two rooms on the fifth floor, which requires going up a flight of stairs. We stayed in a room on the fifth floor because it was more important to us to have a bathtub than to have a wheelchair-accessible room. Bonus: the rooms on the fifth floor have air conditioning! There is a shower in the bathroom. There is also a separate bathtub, which is surrounded by rocks. (Why?) The bathtub sides are steep. We found the mattress to be comfortable. The room has a sloped ceiling because the roof is sloped. There are hardwood floors and sky lights. There is also a glass table and a couple of chairs in room 550. We found the front desk staff to be very friendly and helpful. There are various free drinks and fruits (espresso drinks you make, water, and tea; apricots, apples, plums) and other drinks for purchase. The restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch (closing at 13:30). The garden is nice.
