The site was originally the Great Mosque of Seville, later converted into a Gothic-style Catholic cathedral. The construction took a century to complete and is truly magnificent. △The main altar of the church features carvings depicting 36 scenes from the birth, passion, and death of Jesus, adorned with exquisite lavishness. Additionally, the chapels decorated with renowned religious paintings by the Seville school of artists are well worth visiting. Among them, Murillo's "The vision of St. Anthony" is not to be missed. The sacristy houses Goya's masterpiece "Saints Justa and Rufina," a truly precious work. △Giralda TowerIt is also one of the highlights of Seville Cathedral. Originally built as a mosque tower during Moorish rule, it stands 98 m tall. A gentle ramp leads to the top, offering a panoramic view of Seville.Seville · 985m from downtown
Teatro Flamenco Sevilla

Teatro Flamenco Sevilla

8.1
4.6/5
88 reviews
Teatro Flamenco Sevilla is located in the heart of Seville's old town and is a theater dedicated to live flamenco performances. The building has a rich history: it was originally the Pathé cinema opened in the 1920s, then served as a television studio and variety theater for decades, and now welcomes guests again as a specialized flamenco venue. The theater's flagship resident show is "Pasión" (meaning "passion" in Spanish), with a duration of about one hour. Multiple dancers, singers, and guitarists perform together, with song, dance, and guitar alternately taking the spotlight: rapid footwork, crisp handclaps, and sweeping guitar strums intertwine, while the singer's voice ranges from low murmurs to soaring highs. The venue retains an intimate atmosphere for close-up viewing, allowing audiences to clearly see the dancers' expressions and intricate rhythmic footwork. Both first-time flamenco travelers and seasoned enthusiasts will find something to appreciate. Seville is widely regarded as one of the birthplaces of flamenco, and this art form listed as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage is best experienced live here. A few practical tips: The performance lineup rotates by date, so it's advisable to check which dancers and singers will be performing on the day before you set out. Seats are arranged on a first-come, first-served basis, so arriving early is recommended if you want to be closer to the stage. With a duration of around one hour, it's perfect for wrapping up your day's itinerary after exploring the old town.Seville · 1.1km from downtown

Parque de Maria Luisa

Parque de Maria Luisa is a major public green space in Seville, extending along theRio Guadalquivirand covering an area of approx. 400,000 square meters. The park was formerly the garden of the Palacio de San Telmo and was donated to the city of Seville by Infanta Maria Luisa Fernanda in 1893. Starting in 1911, French landscape designer Jean-Claude Nicolas Forestier redesigned the garden, using Moorish-style landscaping as a foundation, adding fountains, ponds, glazed tile benches, and pavilions, and planting numerous palm trees, orange trees, and Mediterranean pines to create the overall setting for the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition. The semi-circular España Square on the east side of the park is the centerpiece of the exposition, designed by architect Aníbal González, and blends Renaissance, Baroque, and Neo-Mudéjar styles. The square is surrounded by a canal where visitors can rent boats to row on the water. Along the canal, the buildings feature benches made of glazed ceramic tiles, with each set representing a historical scene from a province in Spain. The three pavilions at the southern end of the park were also built for the exposition, each adopting one of three architectural styles: Gothic, Mudéjar, or Renaissance. Today, two of them have become museums: theArchaeological Museumdisplays prehistoric and Roman-era artifacts, including mosaics and sculptures unearthed from the nearby ancient ruins of Italica; while the Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions exhibits local ceramics, traditional costumes, and handicraft tools. The park is also dotted with landmarks such as the Bécquer Monument, the Lion Fountain, and the Water Lily Pond.Seville · 1.6km from downtown

Torre del Oro

174 reviews
Torre del Oro is a dodecagonal military watchtower on the east bank of the Rio Guadalquivir. Built by the Moorish Almohad dynasty, it was once connected to the royal palace by a section of the city wall, guarding the strategic waterway for ships traveling upriver into Seville. The origin of the tower's name is debated: some say it was once covered in shimmering tiles, others claim it was named for the golden reflection of its mortar-and-straw coating in the sunlight, and legend also has it that King Peter I stored gold and silver treasures inside. While the golden finish is hard to find today, the tower often glows with a warm golden hue in the sunset, making it particularly photogenic. The tower is divided into three sections: the base was built in the early 13th century, the second level was an expansion in the 14th century, and the circular dome at the top was added after the 1755 Lisbon earthquake and is still covered with golden tiles. Historically, it has been used as a prison and a chapel, and in the 19th century, it served as offices for shipping companies and port authorities. Since 1944, the tower has housed a maritime museum, displaying ancient nautical charts, ship models, and historical navigational instruments, as well as documents recording voyages such as those of Magellan and Elcano, telling the story of Seville's connection to this great river and the sea. There is a cruise pier on the riverbank below the tower, where you can get a different perspective of this old tower from the water.Seville · 1.4km from downtown
La Giralda
No. 11 of Best Things to Do in Seville

La Giralda

4.8/5
86 reviews
La Giralda is the bell tower of Seville Cathedral, with a total height of nearly 100m. Its lower section was a minaret of a mosque built under the direction of the North African Almohad dynasty. The horseshoe-shaped arched windows and diamond-patterned decorations on the brick tower exude a rich Islamic style. Later, architect Hernán Ruiz added a Renaissance-style bell chamber to the top of the old tower, seamlessly connecting the two sections of the tower, which are separated by hundreds of years. For centuries, Seville did not allow any buildings in the city to be taller than this tower, which shows its significance in the old city's skyline. The experience of climbing the tower is also quite unique: there are no stairs inside, only over 30 ramps that spiral upward. The slope is gentle, and it is said that in the past, it was even possible to ride a horse to the top. Walking along the ramps to the bell chamber platform at the top, you can take in the red-tiled roofs of Seville, the winding streets, and the distant Rio Guadalquivir. The bell chamber houses over 20 bronze bells, each with its own name. One of them, cast in the 16th century, weighs several tons and still rings today. The bronze statue at the spire, named "El Giraldillo," is about 4m high and weighs over 1 ton. It acts as a weather vane and rotates with the wind, and the name Giralda is derived from the Spanish word for "to rotate."Seville · 933m from downtown

Lovely experience. So much history in one place. There were lots of renovations as well so be careful, but they are super good with making boundaries so you don’t step anywhere near it. Make sure you put 2 hours for this place and go up to the tower as you get to see the whole of Sevilla from different points of view

There are many places to watch flamenco in Seville, and I chose this one with the highest rating. It started at 7 pm and was completely sold out. VIPs got front-row seats, and you could even have a drink after the show – very nice! The performers were very professional. Photography was allowed for the first 5 minutes, after which you could fully immerse yourself in the performance. It was a great experience and well worth it!

A must-see flamenco performance in Seville, held at a museum. Even arriving 20 minutes early, there are already no seats at the front, so be sure to go early! However, those in the first row will be constantly drenched in the actors' sweat 🤣. Photography is not allowed during the performance.

Visited Plaza de España, and it’s such a beautiful place! 🇪🇸 Definitely a must-see when in Seville. The best part? It’s free to visit! Just avoid coming in summer if you can, as the heat can be intense and the place gets very crowded with tourists.

On the morning of the fifth day of our tour of Spain and Portugal in Seville, we visited the Guadalquivir River and saw landmarks such as the Torre del Oro, Columbus's sailing ship, and the Maslonza bullring. Led by our guides and official guides, we explored the Metropol Parasol and Santa Croce districts. The official guide mentioned that we could take an elevator down to the Metropol Parasol area to visit Roman and Moorish ruins.

Seville has extremely rich tourism resources, and the Golden Tower is one of the most noteworthy sights. The Golden Tower, located on the banks of the Guadalquivir River in Seville, was built in 1220. The original purpose of its construction was to monitor ships entering and leaving the river port, and it was later used as a warehouse, post office and prison. As one of the departure points for the Spanish ocean-going fleet, the Golden Tower witnessed the glory of Spain as a maritime power. The brick tower with 12 equilateral mausoleum columns has a strong Arabic architectural style, which is solid and elegant…

The highlight of my visit to the Seville Cathedral! I climbed the Giralda. It was quite tiring, but once I got up there, I was able to look around the city of Seville in all directions, and the view was amazing.
