Nankunshan National Forest Park
Nankunshan National Forest Park is located in Longmen County, Huizhou. It is very close to major cities such as Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Guangzhou, and Dongguan. From Guangzhou, it is about 97 kilometers, and from Shenzhen, it is about 166 kilometers. The surrounding urban areas are all within a three-hour drive. Driving along various highways and exiting at Zengcheng, the roadsides are lined with tall mountains and forests, which is very pleasing to the eye, making it an ideal destination for self-driving tours in Guangdong. Before reaching the entrance of Nankunshan National Forest Park, you will see a sign for the Dafeimen scenic area, which actually marks the beginning of the park. Dafeimen is a large reservoir within Nankunshan National Forest Park. The water quality here is very good, surrounded entirely by mountains and forests with almost no man-made landscapes, making it very natural. You can park and sit at a roadside stall to enjoy some mountain water tofu pudding while appreciating the natural scenery. The park features more than 20 scenic spots, such as Chuanlong Gorge, Chuanlong Waterfall, Qixian Lake, Stone River Wonder, Guanyin Pond, Yixiantian, Centenarian Cedar King, Xianxia Waterfall, and Paradise Peak. Some of these spots are far apart, making it difficult to visit all of them in one trip, even when driving. Among them, the main attractions for most visitors are Guanyin Pond, Paradise Peak, Stone River Wonder, and Chuanlong Waterfall. Entering through the southwest gate of the park, four kilometers west of Nankunshan Town, you will reach Guanyin Pond. Guanyin Pond lies within a mountain stream and has three waterfalls in series. Behind the lower waterfall, there is a white stone that resembles a seated Guanyin, inviting visitors to calmly admire the green pond water. Through the waterfall curtain, you can faintly see this stone Guanyin. The pond is named after this Guanyin-like white stone, and of course, there is also a legend, which will not be elaborated here. After leaving Guanyin Pond, you arrive at Nankunshan Town, the most bustling part of the park. The town is small and can be explored in ten or so minutes on foot. Both sides of the street are lined with small hotels, restaurants, and many small shops selling local mountain products and specialties. The Stone River scenic area is a very beautiful spot in Nankunshan National Forest Park, located roughly one kilometer behind the parking lot. Very beautiful, away from the hustle and bustle. It's nice to go out for a walk and relax. I walked up step by step with my children. There are many plants on the roadside and the air is quite fresh. There are many hiking experts, and the atmosphere of climbing is very good. It's also very beautiful to take pictures.

This is my third time to revisit Xiangxibao. Xiangxibao has changed a lot in recent years. There are more places decorated as old houses that can be visited, where you can learn about the living conditions of the people in the past. There is also a very classical bookstore.
