Mianshan Scenic Area is located 20 kilometers southeast of Jiexiu City. Surrounding the area are magnificent cliffs, cypress and pine trees, making for a beautiful landscape. Tiewa Temple began construction during the Eastern Han Dynasty and Baofu Temple was founded during the Cao-Wei Dynasty of the Three Kingdoms Period.

Jinci Temple was founded during the Zhizheng era of Emperor Huizong of the Yuan Dynasty and was renovated three times during the Jiajing, Longqing, and Wanli eras of the Ming Dynasty. Existing structures include the Main Hall,Offering Pavilion, stage,Bell and Drum Tower, and side halls. Several stone tablets are preserved within the temple, the earliest of which was engraved in the 17th year of the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty. The temple faces south and covers an area of 1,374 square meters. Along the central axis are the Main Hall, Offering Hall, and stage, with theBell and Drum Towerand side halls on either side; the rest were built during the Ming and Qing dynasties. The Main Hall, known as the Zhaoji Holy Mother Hall, was built in the 3rd year of the Zhizheng era of the Yuan Dynasty (1343 AD). It spans three bays in width and four rafters in depth, with a front corridor and a gabled roof. The Offering Hall is square in plan with a single-eave hip-and-gable roof. The stage was built in the 13th year of the Daoguang era of Emperor Xuanzong of the Qing Dynasty and has a building area of 80 square meters.

Wang Family Compound - Confucian Temple (Zhongxin Road), located in Jingshengzhen, Lingshi County, Shanxi, was built during the Yuan Dynasty. Construction began in the third year of the Zhishun era and was completed four years later in the second year of the Zhiyuan era. After multiple renovations, the existing structures date back to the Yuan and Ming dynasties. The temple faces south and features a two-courtyard layout. Along the central axis stand the Ji Gate and the Dacheng Hall, while the Kuixing Pavilion and side halls are located on the flanks, covering an area of 2,237 square meters. The temple features exquisite carvings, with the double-sided openwork stone screen "Carp Leaping Over the Dragon Gate" being particularly eye-catching. The Dragon Gate is majestic, with rolling waves and two dragons dancing and leaping; their heads are visible while their tails are hidden, and their scales and claws appear amidst the clouds, with one dragon opening its mouth to spout water. The entire scene is dynamic and bold. Jingsheng Confucian Temple served as a school where many studied and embarked on official careers, making this screen wall very popular.

Zishou Temple was originally built in the 11th year of Emperor Yizong's Xiantong era in the Tang Dynasty (870 AD). Through expansions and renovations during the Song, Yuan, and Ming dynasties, it gradually developed into its current scale. The temple faces south and is built against a mountain, covering an area of 17,000 square meters with three courtyards and a total of 17 halls. In 1986, it was included in the "Dictionary of Chinese Scenic Spots," and in 2001, it was designated as a national key cultural relics protection unit by the State Council. The temple is renowned for its "three treasures": colored sculptures, murals, and caisson ceilings, and gained international fame when the 18 arhat heads were lost and later recovered.

👍 亮点震撼红岩：北方少有的赤色嶂石岩峡谷，晴天时红崖耀眼，拍照出片。徒步有趣：路线分难度，可轻松玩水，也可挑战铁索攀爬，终点瀑布清凉。人少清净：相比热门景区，这里商业气息淡，适合喜欢野趣的游客。👎 缺点山路窄、弯道多，有公共交通，自驾需谨慎；摆渡车班次多配套简陋：途中无补给站，厕所少，信号差，不适合追求舒适度的游客。

Mianshan Mountain is definitely worth a visit. It boasts stunning natural scenery and numerous historical and cultural sites. However, there are many attractions, and they are quite far apart, making it difficult to see everything in one day. Accommodation is available within the scenic area, and staying overnight might be a better option. Two points to note: 1. When dining at Shuitaogou, avoid the temporary stalls near the drop-off point. Walk towards the entrance of Shuitaogou Scenic Area; there are larger self-service restaurants and food stalls there. 2. Plan your energy and time carefully to avoid running out of time or being unable to keep up. Take the elevator whenever possible to save energy and time. Admission is free. An outstanding example of Confucian temples below the county level. Features include the Yuan Dynasty Dacheng Hall and the bluestone carp leaping over the dragon gate wall, and the Qing Dynasty Kui Xing Tower. The lighting effects at night are beautiful. The architectural layout is rigorous, and the cultural relics are well-preserved—definitely worth recommending!

Zishou Temple has a unique architectural style, and a large number of Ming Dynasty colored sculptures and murals are preserved in the temple. Among them, the statues of the Eighteen Arhats are particularly famous. These Arhat statues have both realistic and simple styles, and outline the wisdom of the venerables with a concise style. They can be called the pearls of Zishou Temple's colored sculptures. In addition, the murals of Zishou Temple are also very exquisite, especially the Ming Dynasty water and land murals "The Buddha Assembly of the Brilliant Light Buddha" and "The Buddha Assembly of the Medicine Buddha" in the Great Hall, and the murals of the Ten Realms Bodhisattvas and the Eight Divisions of Heavenly Dragons and other Dharma protectors in the Medicine Hall, all of which are excellent Ming Dynasty murals.

I went during the National Day holiday, and it was quite crowded. The Wang Family Compound is so big that I felt like I couldn't see it all in an afternoon. It's a very distinctive architectural complex in Jinzhong, with a well-organized layout, and it's definitely worth a visit.
