After purchasing through Trip.com, you will need to exchange your ticket for a paper one at a tourist information center in Cologne. If you go to the information center located very close to Cologne Central Station, they will exchange it for a paper ticket and ask you to fill in your name and start date yourself. They will also explain that you should have the ticket stamped by a machine the first time you board a train or bus.

It was convenient to make a same-day reservation, but they asked for the QR code displayed on the app instead of a screenshot. I paid for my friend, but I was flustered when they said it wouldn't work... I used a coffee coupon, and they treated me like a Chinese person there.
