Walls of Ávila

The ancient city wall of Avila is an irregular square, which together with towers and battlemented cylinders forms a fortress-like building. It has a total of nine city gates and is very magnificent.

The ancient city of Avila was built in the 11th century to defend Spanish territory against the invasion of the Moors. Saint Teresa was born here and the Grand Inquisitor Torquemada was buried here. It is the most complete castle in Spain.

Cuatro Postes Lookout - four posts

The four-poster platform is located on the northwest side of Avila, just off the Salamanca Highway. It used to be a pavilion for the Spanish royal family to rest on their excursions. At that time, the royal family would play, party here, and use the four-poster platform to watch the stars. Today, the four-poster platform is a good place to enjoy the panoramic view of the entire ancient city of Avila.
