Duomo di Siena Review

One of the most beautiful cathedrals I have ever visited - both inside and out!

Built between 1215 and 1263, the cathedral is an earlier Italian building. The exterior and interior of the cathedral consist of white and dark green marble, alternately striped, and black and white is the symbol of Siena. A second large-scale expansion of the main body of the cathedral was planned in 1339, but the Black Death pandemic in 1348 led to the shutdown and the work was never resumed. What can now be seen is the exterior wall of the southern cathedral. You can climb one of the walls through narrow stairs to enjoy the city view.

去佛罗伦萨途中在托斯卡纳地区的中世纪小城Siena住了一晚，宁静古朴的小镇游客不多（相对好像小偷也少点）。如果不是黑死病的影响，最初修建锡耶纳大教堂的目标是要超越圣彼得大教堂的。有人说托斯卡那是离天堂最近的地方，登上曼加塔楼俯瞰，原来天堂这样真实与美好。

比邻佛罗伦萨的锡耶纳小镇拥有可能成为意大利最大教堂的锡耶纳大教堂但最终因为中世纪的那场黑死病而未按预期规划完工是典型的哥特式建筑教堂也是小镇最高的地方远望就像是屹立于丘陵之上的一座宏伟的古堡
