St. Infant's Church on Cologne Street is a sacred place for Cebu Catholics to worship. The church is dedicated to the black-skinned baby saint. The most amazing thing is the sixteenth century, when the war raged. The place was almost flattened by the fire, but the baby Saint remained intact. When we went to the Church of St. Infant, it was Christmas. Like the devout Catholics, we lined up to worship the baby and listened to the holy voice in the church. The square outside the church was very open, and the priest was giving a mass in the square. On both sides of the square, there are balcony seats. It's noon and the sun is shining like fire. The people gathered sit quietly in the armchair under the shade of the tree or in the seats under the balcony. The famous Magellan Cross is next to the church. Because the local people think that only scraping a little sawdust on the cross can cure all kinds of diseases, so the cross becomes thinner and thinner. The cross can withstand the wind erosion of the years, but it can not refuse such persistent devotees. To protect it, the government made wooden cross jackets, and Magellan Cross was permanently protected. Although the true cross has been completely wrapped in a protective sheath, the enthusiasm of the prayers is not affected at all. There are still a large number of worshippers every day who offer candles of various colors to pray for peace. The price of tickets to church museums is 30 pesos. Most of the exhibits are gorgeous Bishop's dresses and statues of baby saints with different postures. They are beautiful and sacred.

At night, the Basilica del Santo Niño in Cebu emanates a majestic and serene atmosphere. The facade is often illuminated, highlighting its Spanish colonial architecture, while soft lights create a tranquil ambiance around the church ground. The surrounding areas may feature gentle night sounds, contributing to a peaceful and spiritual experience.

The interior of the church is simple and generous, and the sun shines through the windows into the church, making people feel more sacred, and making the portrait of Christ on the ceiling more lifelike. According to local friends, the clothes worn by the statue of the Virgin inside are all made of gold. Very beautiful and ancient city. Worth a visit.

This church has always been our first stop whenever we visit Cebu. We have been going to Cebu since 1990s to attend the Sinulog festival. I love this church because despite its huge size, the calmness and silence is still present. It just means that the people are really there to pray and reflect. The cleanliness of the Church has been maintained also as well as the peace and order. I really recommend this Church to anybody visiting Cebu.

Basilica Minore Del Sto. Niño is known as the oldest Catholic Church in Cebu. The church houses the image of the Sto. Niño, the city’s patron saint that represents Jesus as a black Holy Child. It is also a place for prayer and pilgrimage to a large number of people each year.
