I flew thousands of kilometers just for this! This is where I took the incredible photoshoot. The scenery is absolutely stunning. The weather was perfect, and I had a panoramic view of the Miao village. The climb was a bit tiring, but it was totally worth it.
A must-visit in Southeast Guizhou! Stilted houses + terraced fields = a natural photo studio 📍Address: Qianhu Miao Village, Xijiang Town, Leishan County, Southeast Guizhou 🚌Transportation Tips: 40-minute shared taxi ride from Kaili South Station (approx. 30 RMB/person) 1️⃣ Strolling and Eating in the Ancient Street Easy to stroll through the ancient street with your child! Miao-style glutinous rice cakes are made fresh on the spot, and the grandmothers will teach children how to make them. 📸Tips: Best lighting around 4 PM; capture the oil-paper umbrella stalls at the corners of alleys. 2️⃣ Hiking in the Terraced Fields Recommended: Walk along the narrow paths between the fields! Even a 3-year-old can do it independently. Hidden Camera Spot: Overlooking the No. 2 Wind and Rain Bridge for a panoramic view of the terraced fields and Miao village. 3️⃣ Night View from the Viewpoint A lazy person's dream! Take a sightseeing bus for 20 yuan straight to the viewing platform. 🌌Must-Shoot: Use your phone's flash to take silhouette photos; the lights of thousands of homes create a dreamy backdrop. 🍜Food Frenzy: Sour Soup Fish: More authentic in the wooden houses; the broth is so delicious you could drink three bowls! Colorful Sticky Rice: A favorite among children; you can even DIY rice balls! Stir-fried Cured Pork with Ferns: An absolutely delicious mountain flavor! ⚠️Avoid Rip-Offs Guide: - Rent Miao costumes at shops halfway up the mountain (half the price of those at the foot). - Taxis are hard to find after 8 PM; it's recommended to stay in guesthouses within the scenic area. - Baby carriers are a lifesaver! Free your hands and use them as photo props. #GuizhouFamilyTrip #ThousandHouseholdMiaoVillageGuide #TravelWithKids #EthnicMinorityCulture #SoutheastGuizhouTourism
⌚️: October 21, 2025. Free admission for teachers with a valid teacher's certificate. I highly recommend entering from the North Gate for convenience. Inside the village, you need to buy a 20 RMB sightseeing bus ticket, which allows unlimited rides throughout the day. I personally think it's very necessary, especially if you're too lazy to walk. I entered the village at 1:00 PM that day, and there was a Miao ethnic performance in the square at 2:00 PM, which I happened to catch – quite interesting! I went during the off-season, so the village wasn't crowded, and there were basically no queues for photos. There are quite a few photo studios inside. Although it's heavily commercialized, the scenery is definitely worth it, especially the Pigpen Cafe and Cowshed Cafe – these two cafes are great for photos, but they're really hard to climb and very strenuous. The paths are also difficult to walk on, so ladies should be careful and not bring children up, as the paths are narrow and steep, and children can easily fall. Safety first! ☝️ Several popular photo spots and cafes in the village require a purchase for photos, which is acceptable. We found a sour soup beef hot pot restaurant that day, and the taste was okay. The two of us girls ate for a little over 200 yuan and were stuffed. You can just buy a set meal.
First time visiting Xijiang Miao Village? Don't rush in blindly! I've compiled a firsthand, one-day, one-night experience, revealing all the pitfalls and must-see attractions. Transportation, tickets, routes, photography tips, food, and accommodation are all covered in one go – a worry-free and photogenic trip! 😉 🚗Transportation: Choose the right way to avoid hassle - From Guiyang: There are direct buses to the scenic area from Guiyang North Station, the journey takes about 3 hours, but there are very few services during the off-season, so be sure to check the schedule in advance! - High-speed rail is a better option: Take the high-speed rail to Kaili South Station, and from there you can take a taxi or share a ride to the Miao Village. It's flexible and saves time! Don't choose the station buses, as they only depart when full, which is a huge waste of time! - Driving tip: Select the West Gate directly on your navigation app! The route into the mountains from the west gate is smoother and avoids backtracking. 🎫Tickets + Sightseeing Bus: Money-Saving Tips - Regular tickets are 90 yuan per person, and the sightseeing bus is 20 yuan for unlimited rides (the Miao village is all hills, and walking alone will be exhausting). - Hidden Bonus: Ask your guesthouse owner to help you book the tickets and sightseeing bus; you can save money compared to buying them yourself! - Special Offers: Students, seniors, and other eligible guests can enjoy free or half-price admission by bringing their identification. 🗺️Recommended Itinerary: Day Trip/Driving (Short Route) 🔸Day Trip (North Gate Entry) North Gate → Small North Gate → Ancient Street (Starting Point for Shopping and Dining) → Xijiang Museum (Learn about Miao Village Culture) → Lusheng Field (Watch Miao Song and Dance Performance) → No. 1 Wind and Rain Bridge → Terraced Fields Viewing Platform → Visit No. 5 → No. 4 → No. 3 → No. 2 Wind and Rain Bridges in sequence (Each bridge offers a different view; take photos of the stream scenery along the way) 🔸Driving (West Gate Entry) West Gate → Mountain Top Viewing Platform (Take Panoramic Photos First) → No. 1 Wind and Rain Bridge → No. 2 → No. 3 → No. 4 → No. 5 Wind and Rain Bridges → Ancient Street (Explore Food and Shops) → Xijiang Museum → Lusheng Field → Return via No. 1 Wind and Rain Bridge (Avoid backtracking, saving time and effort) 📸Photo Spots: Popular Spots + Atmosphere Tips All the best photo spots are on the mountain! Take the sightseeing bus to "Police Station" and follow the signs. - Sky Courtyard: Pavilion + blue-tiled roof + swing, with panoramic views of the Miao village, every shot is a masterpiece of ancient style.📸 - Spring and Summer Study and Art Museum: Viewing platform + artistic swing + niche art exhibition, read a book while enjoying the scenery, full of romance. - Wooden House Windowsill: Old wooden house windowsills can be seen everywhere in the village, place a bunch of wildflowers or a cup of tea, the atmosphere is amazing! - Pigpen Cafe/Cowshed Cafe: A unique blend of industrial style and Miao village scenery, featuring a pool viewing platform and a distinctive swing. - Half-Blooming Summer Homestay: Rooftop swing + half an acre of terraced fields. Visit in the early morning or evening when the mist hangs in the air – it's truly ethereal! 🍜Food Recommendations: Must-try snacks + hidden gem meals 🔥Street Food (Go for it!) - Miao Wu Niang's Sticky Rice: Sticky and glutinous, filled with peanuts and pickled radishes, savory and delicious – a perfect breakfast choice! - Grandma's Handmade Sticky Rice Cakes: Freshly made and sold, dipped in soybean powder – sweet and not greasy, incredibly chewy! - Grilled Black-haired Pork Skewers: The meat is firm and tender, sprinkled with chili powder, so fragrant you'll lick your fingers! 🍽️Top Choice for Main Meals (Scenery + Taste Both Excellent) - Gengduji, Hechugui, and Caotang Tea House: The downside is that all three are located halfway up the mountain, requiring some climbing. However, the window seats offer panoramic views of the Miao village. Must-try dishes include sour fish soup, braised pork, and Miao-style cured pork – authentic Miao flavors! 🏡Accommodation Guide: Ambient Atmosphere vs. Convenience - For a scenic view: Choose a guesthouse high on the western hillside. Open the window for a view of countless lights – the night view is absolutely stunning! - For convenience: Prioritize guesthouses near the viewing platform or the main street. No need to climb hills, convenient for sightseeing, eating, and catching transportation. - Avoidance Tips: Stay outside the scenic area or in Kaili city during the peak season! The price difference is double, but it's much more convenient to take a taxi back after enjoying the night view. ⚠️Tips to Avoid Pitfalls (Lessons Learned from Pain) 1. During the peak season, the sightseeing bus stops operating! You'll have to hike up and down hills, which will leave you exhausted. 2. Go during the off-season! Fewer crowds, less competition for photo spots, and cheaper accommodation. 3. Don't take the cable car from the West Gate to the North Gate! You won't see any of the main scenery; it's a complete waste of money. ❌ 4. Check the location of your guesthouse before booking! Most are located halfway up the mountain, so bring as little luggage as possible, otherwise you'll be crying from the climb. 5. Compare prices for travel photography: You can bargain, request reshoots if you're not satisfied, and those that can edit photos on the spot are definitely more reliable. 6. Night photography: Don't wait until dark! The blue hour 30 minutes before sunset creates a layered sky and soft lights, resulting in more sophisticated photos. 7. Weather Warning: Guizhou's weather is unpredictable, with high altitude and extremely strong UV radiation. Be sure to bring an umbrella and sunscreen, and prepare for rain and sun protection. Follow this guide to capture the beauty and vibrant atmosphere of Xijiang Miao Village, avoid all the pitfalls, and easily take amazing photos that will go viral on social media! Hope you have a wonderful trip! 🥳 #WorthVisitXijiangQianhuMiaoVillage #HumanisticCharmOfXijiangQianhuMiaoVillage #XijiangQianhuMiaoVillageGuide #XijiangQianhuMiaoVillageTravelGuide #WorthVisitXijiangQianhuMiaoVillage
First, the Pigpen Cafe is located halfway up the mountain. The sightseeing bus can take you down to the foot of the mountain where there are clear signs. Follow the signs for Murakami Bookstore uphill! Don't panic if you encounter deserted paths along the way! Just follow the signs! The Pigpen Cafe and Murakami Bookstore are all located in one area! But it's really tough on your legs; those few hundred meters are a once-in-a-lifetime experience…
🌟Before my trip, countless reviews said Qianhu Miao Village was overly commercialized, but I unilaterally declare that's not true! Even on a cloudy day, Qianhu Miao Village was breathtakingly beautiful. I've already scouted out the best spots for photos, and I've created two routes following the correct order, so you don't have to worry about getting lost! 🌟Route 1: Photos 1️⃣-1️⃣1️⃣ Half-Summer Blossoms. Their house has a rooftop, swings, and pavilions. Further up is Pigpen Cafe and Village Study, next to which is the cowshed campsite. Further up are Upper Village and the Village Art Museum. 🌟Route 2: Photos 1️⃣2️⃣-1️⃣8️⃣ Miao Grass Field Rice Paddy Cafe (batik workshop), Village Flower Garden (rural scenery area), Village Granary (a must-see, incredibly beautiful) 🌟The weather was cloudy, so all photos were taken with my phone. On a sunny day, a camera will take better pictures.📸
