Stratford Manor Hotel

The hotel is generally good and the staff are attentive, but we would suggest avoiding the restaurant.  The hotel doesn't warrant a 4* with areas showing wear and tear such as water-damaged wood, mouldy seal in the bathroom, broken window locks, etc.  Our room was not ready when we arrived, so we were given a drinks voucher. After being advised our room was ready, we arrived at the room to find the maid still cleaning the room. The room included basic tea and coffee facilities and toiletries.  The pool/spa is limited and has a cold pool, a steam room, a sauna, and a gym.  We had booked into the restaurant for an evening meal, but when we arrived there was a table complaining about the food. They had sent their food back to the kitchen twice, and the staff were suggesting they send it back again. They walked out of the restaurant. Based on this, we thought we would order something that was pretty safe, so we ordered a burger and a chicken. However, the meat tasted cheap and of poor quality. The restaurant is charging gastro prices, but the quality is nothing better than Wetherspoons or worse. Again, the puddings were basic, with a vegan coconut ice cream that had an odd texture to it and a sticky toffee pudding that was no better than a cheap microwave pud. In our opinion, the staff were inappropriately dressed, with one waitress having such a short skirt that every time she moved you got to see more than you wanted. The bar staff were assisting in the restaurant, and one barman was dressed in hip-style jeans, which kept falling down. Although all very attentive and polite, it seemed that the hotel as a whole had very limited staff, with everyone just mucking in.  The breakfast was not much better than our evening meal. We arrived at 9.30am to find the milk, pastries, hot water, etc. had run dry. There was a selection of hot food, but once again the meat tasted cheap. The main waitress was incredibly young and either didn't communicate or spoke so incredibly quietly that you could not hear what she said.  At check out, we were not asked how our stay had been, and we felt that everything was done to avoid such communication.

Couple with dog. For two nights we didn't have hot water. We rang reception an spoke to the duty manager - the second time...He told us it was because there was a coach load of people staying who had all taken a shower/bath at the same time on their return, and we would have to wait until it heated up again. That didn't allow for the lack of pressure - a trickle! In the end we gave up - no shower/bath. However, the duty manager assured us that the manager would find us the next morning.... this never happened, On the Saturday night the same thing happened. The excuse given by the receptionist for the manager not having found us that morning was there was a wedding and all managers were needed - they didn't start their shift until 11am. The duty manager couldn't speak to us as he was working at the wedding - Saturday night - but Leanne assured us that she had noted our complaint and that she had written up notes, and our inconvenience (now not having hot water for two nights of a three night stay) would be reflected in our invoice on checking out. This wasn't the point. The stay was supposed to be a relaxing, super special treat, not able to have a shower or a bath at night was NOT okay! She assured us that on the third night the 'tour' party and 'wedding party' would have left. So we would have hot water. Which we did. On checking out the receptionist had no idea about our complaint, and therefore couldn't help us. We are in the process of writing a compliant, and a review. The staff and hotel did not let you down - the management did! I have a video of the water pressure. On another point, the hotel is described as dog friendly. This might be the case. You can bring your dog for a fee of £25 a night, however, on check in we were told we had to eat in the bar area or outside. Luckily the weather was okay. However, we felt like second class citizens! Not only that but the bar area has no tables at which anyone could eat a meal - the tables are all low and only fit for snacks!

Really nice hotel, was incredibly clean. Only issue we had was the walls were seemingly paper thin, and lots of people were drunkenly shouting. We called reception to ask if they could ask them to quiet down at around midnight, rhe noise continued until 1am. I went and asked reception again if they could speak with the noisy guests, but instead of speaking to them they just said we could change rooms. When it's 1am, you've already unpacked and only staying for one night; repacking and unpacking again isn't ideal. Did ruin the stay to be honest. Not the fault of the hotel that other guests were being loud, but would be nice if they'd have actually spoken to them instead of just offering to change our room in the middle of the night.
Holiday Inn Express Warwick - Stratford-Upon-Avon

We stayed here as our car broke down on the way to our holiday. We were travelling with young children and a disabled person. The staff at this hotel couldn’t have been more helpful. The service was beyond outstanding. The children were upset and disappointed and they were fantastic with them. They really couldn’t do enough to help. Kasey was especially lovely. A credit to your company. The next time we are in the area we will absolutely stay here again! I should also note that the hotel was lovely and clean and we had plenty of space in our family room. The shower was great. Breakfast was a good selection and hot and delicious. The bar was open until 1am which was particularly useful for us given the circumstances! 🙈😂

I was here for 4 nights and as a member of IHG ambassador scheme I was upgraded to ‘executive suite’ 308. The parking was fine though if you arrive late you might struggle to secure a spot. Reception were very helpful which was good to see. There are 2 lifts but only 1 was working so expect a wait for it when busy! My room looked nice and was spacious but….. A MASSIVE essential for today’s traveller is having accessible plug points next to the bed. Holiday inn seem to disagree with This! Every place I go they NEVER have this. What about customers with needs? I’m aware of a customer who had a CPAP machine that needs power overnight…..this Holiday Inns response? sorry! We have extension cables but they are all out at the moment!’ Take heed Holiday Inn and sort this for ALL Room was tired. Decor ageing. A Good Fridge was included but there was no air con and a severe restriction on the opening of the window! It had been a heat wave the week before and I would’ve roasted Alive. The fan included in the room to ‘keep me cool’ would’ve merely circulated the hot air. Despite my IHG status I was barely restocked with basic tea & coffee daily never mind the daily bottle of mineral water I am assured by iHG. Panelling in the bathroom is peeling and tired. Breakfast is decent and the staff are reasonable enough but all in all it’s not quite the hotel you’d want to be staying in for much more than 1 night when paying decent monies
Swan's Nest Hotel

My Partner and I stopped here for the weekend. It took some time to decide on this hotel when booking due to all of the reviews etc on the different hotels in the vicinity. We were not disappointed from the first iteration at the front desk with a lovely lady who was super helpful. The room itself was clean and the bed very comfortable indeed. The food in the restaurant was in my personal opinion over priced, but there are plenty of places to eat out just a short walk away. The location is perfect to enjoy the river and the town all within an easy walking distance. The car park is not the biggest and works on a first come first served set up. However we managed to get a spot without any trouble, although I am sure this would not have been the case at peaks times of the year. All in all though a thoroughly pleasant experience!

The service was great! There was an error with room allocation and as the booked room was not available, we got upgraded to a suite which was wonderful as we were celebrating a special milestone birthday. The dinner at the Trevellyn Restaurant was beyond expectation as we were vegetarian and the vegetarian meal prepared by the chef was awesome. The hotel decor itself looked a little tired although it added to the authentic look of the listed building. It was a hot weekend during our stay and although there was no air conditioning, a small fan was provided which made a little difference when sleeping at night. The gardens needed some upkeep and it would have been lovely if the fountains had been working. Overall we did enjoy our stay and look forward to coming back again after it has gone through some upgrading and refurbishing.
The Stratford Park Hotel & Golf Club

In the countryside in Stratford in a beautiful timber beamed building. The room was dark but spacious. We had the family room with a double and two single. Breakfast was included. No menus but the waiter said any English breakfast combination which was great. I had two poached eggs. The only problem was a lack of communication regarding the usual route to find the hotel being closed due to road works. Navigating a one way system in an unfamiliar town with no email or call to let us know how we were to get to the hotel was extremely stressful and put us 1.5 hours behind the schedule to arrive. This could have been sorted if the hotel had contacted trip.com with the landline provided at booking and explained about road works so I could have been forwarned.

Altogether very satisfactory, lovely position for accessing both town and theatre. Excellent food from the bar menu and a very comfortable stay.
Macdonald Alveston Manor Hotel

This hotel is well suited to the old phrase ‘fur coat, no knickers’. The main reception rooms are beautiful, but the actual accommodation leaves a lot to be desired. £229 felt like a huge sum of money for a random night in October, in a tatty room, with stains on the walls, chipped paint work that in places was more chip than paint, blackened grout in the bathroom, 1950s metal & single glazed prefab style windows and a door which looked as if it had been bust open at some point (nothing like making your guests feel safe). Also deciding to give the spa a swerve, on the basis that a quick look didn’t inspire much confidence, we were truly disappointed with this hotel & would not recommend it to anyone based on our experience. The stay was supposed to be a treat, but the decor is in dire need of a serious face lift. Interestingly, the person who checked us out did not ask if everything was satisfactory, or if we had enjoyed our stay. It was as if she knew it was a total rip off. For somewhere which oozes polished antique charm in its public rooms, Alveston Manor seemed somewhat hypocritical and grossly over-priced behind the scenes.
