Good value for money hotel, let's say it's not worth more than its price. Very small bathroom. Small room too, in the office I even hit my head on the TV.

The location was very convenient for train travelling. I arrived next door at Lille Europe and continued the next day to Lille Flandres station. Walked to both. The hotel is also working a very nice walk to city centre. Very safe and lively walk. The Westfield shopping mall is nearby so shopping is made easy. Large mini suite. My son travelled with me so we had the small bed made out, but still had plenty of room. Only thing are that the bathroom and toilet room seem prefabricated and are kind of wonky (though very functional. My son felt they felt as if we were in a train bathroom. All and all, very nice. *we did not eat at the cafeteria (it is not a restaurant, really).

The location is quite good but they made me wait more than half an hour to get into my room and I was the only one in line. the premises smell too much of cigarette, I only stayed one night but had to buy air freshener. Everything was clean and breakfast was buffet style, breakfast was fine for me. but they should fix the cigarette smell in the building since for people who don't smoke it can become quite uncomfortable.

Stayed at this hotel for five days. Although confusion with the room when we arrived we got upgraded very efficiently and the staff were fantastic. Room was very clean and bed comfy with a view to the sea. Breakfast was excellent - eating area was very clean and the food was well presented. Would definitely recommend this hotel as for a three star it's more than what I expected and would definitely stay again. Close to the marina and main town area - about a five minute walk for restaurants.

Arrived from coming across on ferry so arrived after 9pm but checkin was very straight forward. Good breakfast and exceptional value for money. Perfect for one night stay

The Holiday Inn was located in a quiet area, fairly central to the centre, with most of the shops, train stations, and some museums nearby. I enjoyed my stay, as the hotel staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. The room was very clean, although small. I will definitely choose to stay there again, and have decided to visit again before the end of the year because I had such a pleasant experience.

I do not understand the negative reviews of this hotel. It is not the Grand Hotel (and it does not even have the claim that it is), but at a really competitive price it offers a basic but clean room, clean bathroom, as well as the convenience of a free parking and free check-in. For example, my ferry from Dover to Calais was late and I arrived at 2 in the hotel: with the codes I had received, I entered without problems. I wouldn't come back to stay for a week, but to break the trip for me is absolutely what it wants us and I advise!

This is an old hotel, parking is along the public road but the spacious, clean room and comfortable beds make up for it. We booked this hotel for our ferry to Dover the next morning, location is very convenient with so many good outlets just a couple of minutes away and near the ferry dock. Will stay again.

We had a basic room which although small was big enough for the 2 of us. Very comfortable bed and pillows. I did ask for a second pillow and this was not a problem. Breakfast was buffet style and we loved it. So much to eat and drink. Clean and within about 20 minute walk to centre. Local bars which were great and showing Euro 2024 football on tv which was a bonus. Staff at hotel very polite and helpful. If I come back to Lille which I no doubt will then this is the hotel for me. Will recommend to friends and family

Let’s be honest, what were you expecting for €60 odd Euros? The sheets and towels were clean. The staff had a welcome smile. Sure the window curtain hung badly, the shower curtain was none existant, the security lock had the day off, and the paintwork was older than me! One night, 2 dogs and a tired wife. Worked for us. Not sure when or if we will repeat the experience but we were up early for a long drive south and that counted for a lot.

This is a ”classic” hotel but you get a fully equipped kitchenette in the room which is great if you want to have breakfast in or cook something easy and fast. The location between the two train stations is spectacular. The huge Westfield shopping center is just behind the corner with an incredible Carrefour in there. It has been a great staying, the ladies at my check-in have been very very helpful as I had issues with my cards for the payment. I cannot say the same for a guy who worked there in the evening who was completely not interested in my humble request of a bottle opener which oddly enough was not provided in the kitchenette. I am sure if asked, the hotel is going to come up with some safety story or just some fake bla-bla just because they don't want to admit you cannot bring your bottle in the room but you should rather buy the wine from them. Another thing they could improve is the cleanliness of the toilet, bathroom and room floor. Don't get me wrong: they were not visibly dirty. But one could feel they had been ”wiped” carelessly, just to make you believe they are clean. And one could sense the room floor had not been washed with hot water and properly. Same thing for the bath tub. I could just visualize before my eyes the lazy cleaning staff not caring less about the precision of their work. But in a whole I absolutely give the property a thumb up and recommend it to anyone who wants to experience the beauty and charm of Lille and northern France!

Before arriving I asked for a disability room, which I was informed they were all booked up, so asked for ground floor room Instead as my dad who I was travelling with struggles with steps. This was declined and we were given a room on the top floor (no lift at the hotel). Once up stairs we opened to door to what could only be described as the smell of stale cigarette smoke, that someone had lived there and smoked 50 a day in the room. The smell was horrific. With the Door and window left open, it helped but the smell was still there. The room is very basic, and the bathroom you can just about turn around in. The fan in the bathroom didn't work leaving it very stuffy, and thats before you turned the water on. There was no bath mat provided, resulting in the bathroom floor becoming very slippery ( not great for my dad who is already unsteady on his feet). The matteress on the double bed had multiple stains (from what I wouldn't want to guess). The light above the bunk bed didn't work. Upon waking up in our cigerette smelly room, went down to breakfast, which was extremely basic! There was only bread products available, 4 waiting for a 2slice toaster, which even after 4 minutes came out not toasted. There was no plates for any of the products meaning, if you wanted toast, you had to butter it on the tray or in a cereal bowl. Only reason we stayed here for the whole two nights booked was everywhere was booked up and staying for the rugby world cup, otherwise would have booked and gone else where.

The hotel is excellently located opposite the main train station where the Eurostar arrived. The area was very quiet and also within walking distance to pretty much everything we needed to see so we walked everywhere and never needed public transport. The lobby of the hotel is cosy and very welcoming and the people at reception were friendly and very accommodating. The room was nice and the beds very comfortable. We didn’t have breakfast at the hotel so cannot comment on that but we enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

I stayed here for business for 3 months. It a clean and friendly hotel. It is very central therefore easy to walk anywhere in Lille from it. The staff are so friendly and are always keen to help. I always felt it as an oasis of calm .. despite any chaos outside .. rugby World Cup & braderie.. I would walk in the doors to calm & peace. The gym was basic but adequate for my needs and again I enjoyed the calm of it. I would recommend it whole heartedly and will miss it.

The hotel is in a good location and the front desk service is very good. They even speak a little Chinese.

I forgot my makeup worth 300 euros there. Getting it back was so hard. I called for 3 days just to get a simple link sent to my email address and then paid 35 euros for ”fast” shipping, which wasn't fast at all. When I finally got my package, almost everything was gone—just a deodorant and one makeup brush were left. It’s obvious my things were stolen by someone at the hotel. When I called, I was left with no acceptable answer and could not even speak to the manager on shift. This hotel doesn’t care about you or your stuff. They didn’t even say sorry. Don’t stay at Hotel Barriere. There are more honest places that will respect you and your things.
