Kato Dool Wellness Resort

Pros The hotel facilities were absolutely beautiful with an amazing view. Traditional Nubian style house. Every corner makes you want to capture the space. We had a rocky start but the hotel staff tried to redeem themselves. We lost an apple watch which the hotel helped us get back ASAP before we reached Luxor. We are grateful for this. Cons Awful communication and hospitality. We were the only guests in the entire resort because of low season but still received shitty service. The hotel is in a secluded place making it difficult to reach. It’s on top of a mountain on a dusty rocky road. The hotel offers a tuktuk. We did our research prior and contacted the hotel to arrange getting to the hotel from the village and check in since we knew we’d land in the AMs. We were ignored. We arrived at the village meeting point at 1:45 but only ended up getting to our rooms around 3:50am because reaching the hotel via call and WhatsApp was so difficult. The staff had no sense of urgency. We were frustrated and anxious in this wellness resort. Our taxi driver refused to take us up the mountain and the tuktuk refused to take us because of our many bags (which is understandable). I’m very disappointed in the service and I know the staff has lots of potential to improve on their service delivery. The hotel needs to be more cognisant of their customer service and guests hospitality. Staying here was stressful. Recommended if you want aesthetic vibes,a beautiful picturesque hotel with good breakfast. Don’t recommend if you prioritise great guest services, comfortability and peace.
Basma Hotel Aswan

I really loved this hotel. The view from my room (5th floor) over Aswan, the cataract, Elephantine Island, Aga Khan monument, was breathtaking. As the hotel is on a hill, I cannot imagine any other hotel offering views like that. The rooms are very clean, though a bit dated, and large, with a balcony. Very generous outdoor grounds, nice swimming pool and a perfect breakfast buffet. Nice little shopping center with very good prices for souvenirs. All in all - a hotel I would like to return to.
Sofitel Legend Old Cataract Aswan

Magical property in magical land. Extremely professional and accommodating staff and service. The ground floor spa equally impressive where I enjoyed full body massage on consecutive days. One small issue with thermostat was dealt with promptly and to full satisfaction. I don’t believe you can improve upon The Old Cataract in any stay in Aswan..
Pyramisa Island Hotel Aswan

I arrived from Luxor after staying at the Luxor Pyramisa Hotel and I have to say this place is sooooo much better!! Not just the location or the size of this place but the most important thing was that all members of staff are really friendly, welcoming and always smiling, greeting you when you walk past. A few members stood out very well to me, who are Carlos & Christine from guest relations, who are really friendly and made sure that I had everything I needed and my stay was pleasant. They also sent a complimentary drink to the pool when they saw i was taking a swim. I think these guys definitely deserve a reward!! Mostafa and Ahmed from the taxi/souvenir shop booked a few taxis with them and also an excursion to the Nubial village. Good prices and the taxi were always on time and waiting for me. Finally, I can't forget Faisal, the lifeguard/swimming pool guy. Very friendly, and as soon as he knew I couldn't swim that well, I decided to give me a couple of hours of lessons! a shame. I only went to the pool once on my last day at the hotel. But in general all staff are great but these guys are the ones who I spoke with on a daily basis while staying at the hotel. The hotel, in general, is kept in immaculate condition. The gardens are nice and green and perfect for an evening walk. It's on an island, so no one to haggle you outside and the crossing is free, runs 24hrs, every 20/30mins. Rooms are a bit old but you have to remember we are not in New York or London and in fact very south of the country where its remote and for the price its a good deal!! Views are good, and sunset and sunrise while crossing on the boat to mainland is a view for sure!! I had half board so that was breakfast and dinner on a buffet service. Good selection of hot and cold food at both times. Can't say anything bad. Drinks are extra and the fresh juices are great! Will definitely be staying here again for a longer time when I visit next time!!
Hapi Hotel

The location of the hotel is very good, it is also very close to the Aswan market, and there are many restaurants nearby. The hotel staff is also very good, although I waited in the lobby for a while when there was a power outage. But the price is not high. I live in the most expensive but smallest hotel in Egypt. It is said that it is a Nile River view room. In fact, I can only see a small piece, and the left and right are blocked by other buildings.
Movenpick Resort Aswan

Amazing service from the staff. We were welcomed with cold fresh drinks and hot towels walking into the hotel lobby. Bags were taken to the room and we were able to tour the hotel prior to checking in. Once checked in Woel Farook made sure our stay was pleasant. He gave us a great view of the Nile. Also Mahmoud at the pool and bar took care of us every day there. The kids loved him as he entertained the 2 year old and 10 month old. The pool service is excellent. Can’t wait to go back. I definitely recommend staying at Movenpick.
Tolip Aswan Hotel

This hotel is one of those ”5-star hotels” in the city, and it offers nice views of the Nile River, and on top of that, they also own the other side of thstreet through an underground passageway. That was actually interesting to see. The pool was pretty cold and a welcome relief for the sweltering heat during our stay in Aswan, in the mid-40s! The staff helped us assist in our luggage and did not ask for tips afterwards. Finally! Professionalism right there! The breakfast was of great quality and also offers a nice view of the river. The breakfast room has an outdoor balcony seating if you want that fresh Sahara air! One downside though was that the washroom was pretty dated and you can tell by how old the door was due to repeated exposure from humidity. Also, their spa is not free unlike my hotel in Cairo. The staff were initially excited that we went there to have fun, she even turned on the music to set the mood, only to find out that the service was paid and we all rushed out of there. Haha that was funny!
Citymax Hotel Aswan

This hotel was definitely a step up from Pyramisa Isis Island, which was the worst place I have ever stayed in my life. The room was comfortable enough, the price was good, and there is a decent pool and a fabulous view of the Aswan Corniche. It was walking distance to the Nubian Museum and to the local McDonalds. As a tourist, you will get harassed constantly by the vendors as you walk, and it is very annoying. The food was not very good, but we found enough to eat. The shower was very weird and would go from unbelievably hot to cold. The worst part was that we were cheated by one of the male receptionists for a purchase at the Italian coffee shop in the lobby. He charged us 6 USD when the cost should have been under a dollar. Not a big deal for us to be charged 6 dollars for decent coffee, but it was the fact that he deliberately cheated us that really bothered me. I didn't throw a fit and let it go, and we just went to breakfast at McDonalds after that experience. The hotel lost money for that reason, as we certainly would have purchased many cups and coffee and pastries from them. Their loss. We also felt that one of their staff members was trying to scam us by asking (insisting) for change for a $20 US bill. The way he acted with us was very suspicious.
Fenti Nubian Resort

This small hotel is in a small village. I went in February. It was dry and cold. The air conditioner could be cooled. The wind in the door was very strong. The panoramic room had a balcony on one side and it was colder. Sara at the front desk is more professional and can ask her if she needs to ask, but she goes to work at 10 am. The one in charge of the bar was very unreliable. The pot of hot water for us was unwashed. The pot of milk was released. The water soaked was all paste. The food and hygiene were completely untrustworthy. And sold us two bottles of water. We didn't order it, he took it directly to us. So we thought it was breakfast, and finally showed us the price list and asked us for money. I said you didn't tell us, he said you didn't ask. Aswan's first stop impression is therefore very poor!
Obelisk Nile Hotel

The Hotel just went through a name change back in October 2019 as per management. We stayed in one of the three rooms near the pool area, which made it very convenient to access the terrace, pool, and appreciate the overview of the Nile. The facilities are very nice and well kept. The room was very spacious with a couple of things to be improved, The shower drain required unclogged since it almost over flooded and the AC was inoperative, thankfully temps in March respect at night and it wasn't required, and also noise was a problem at night since people are allowed in the pool area till the late hours. The staff was very hospitable and helped us plan a trip to Luxor with stop in a few temples.
