We booked this hotel twice during our trip to Hong Kong. The first room we got was very disappointing. Even though we were told it was an upgraded room, the bathroom was in disrepair. Major renovation needs to be done. The staff were friendly and helpful to switch our room which was just barely better. Our second stay we got the similar room upgrade and again rust stains can be seen all over the bathroom wall tiles. If it weren’t for the location and staff, I would not recommend this hotel at all.

This is my second time staying at the Hopewell Hotel in Wan Chai, and once again, I had a wonderful experience. I would like to express my sincere appreciation for Pinky at the reception—she was incredibly nice and warm when I checked in, making me feel truly welcome. Such friendly service really sets the tone for the stay. I also want to thank Ms. Poon for her quick response during my last visit. Even when there was a difficult guest in the queue with an unreasonable request, she handled the situation professionally and efficiently, which I deeply appreciate. The hotel location is convenient, the rooms are clean, and overall service is great. However, I did encounter a small issue this time—HDMI was not working in my room (5323). I hope this can be fixed for future guests. Overall, I highly recommend Hopewell Hotel, especially for the excellent staff like Pinky and Ms. Poon who make the experience so much better!

Despite having do not disturb sign on, housekeeping insist of ENTERING MY ROOM while been rejected in the morning. Excuses given was how about me entering to change the towel for you? How about me entering to change the drinking glass for you? This really annoyed me every morning and everyday I’m thinking why do they insist of entering my room everyday? Housekeeping was finally done on DAY 2 of our stay due to the insisting of the housekeeping team. Day 4 , one day before check out. Both the Security Manager and member of the housekeeping team knocked and subsequently entered my room using their master access card without my consent while we were in the room in the afternoon. Their stated reason was ”to check on us” While I fully understand and appreciate the hotel's duty of care regarding guest safety and wellbeing, this level of intrusion was entirely unwarranted. Hotel Staff witnessed us leaving the room daily, confirming our presence and wellbeing, rendering these forced entries completely unnecessary and deeply disturbing. My room is the only room that encountered this issue while all my other colleagues did not. So It feels like I had being “marked” by the hotel as I’m the only one that got special attention. The reason given by the duty manager was out of my mind which I do not wish to disclose here. This level of disregard for basic guest privacy and protocol is unprecedented in my experience.

1. Nice Pool Awesome pool view overseeing with the Aberdeen Channel and sea. Not overcrowding or rowdy at all in the morning. There is a separate water-play area for toddlers and slides for bigger kids. Sufficient life vests provided and life guards are in place. 2. Breakfast We topped up for breakfast on last day at a high price (though slight discount are given for hotel guests). To our shocking dismay, there is nothing much to choose and eat for 4 of us (my elderly mother, big sister and my 6yo girl)! You can see from our picture how pathetic the foods we have on plates. Especially for a 5-star hotel standard!! There are zero international cuisine and dessert/mini cakes for selection; and the Japanese sides are simply off without any sushi or ramen counter. Also, we are not seated at the main lobby area with the wide seating but placed in a further up seating section that are without much view and maximised space with many tables. Spent close to S$200 for this standard?! Total waste of my money!! 3. Shuttle Bus Upon checking in hotel, the staff never mention to me about the shuttle bus. So only when we decided to go to Ocean Park then I purposely enquired on night before. Wish their staff could be more helpful, otherwise more signage to point or direct the way. 4. Guest Room Our room is furnished in classy style that are refreshing and pleasing to the eyes matching the great ocean view. However, it is a little cramped after we repositioned the chairs, to fit in our 4 luggage leaving only 1 tight pathway to walk up and down the room. Also the lamp shades are unbearable to look at, really rusty and disgusting.

Ok hotel if you want something simple better than those cheap stays. But don't expect much. Overall is good, should improve cleaning (especially the bathroom which is old and hasn't been renovated). Regarding sound, you can hear people in the corridor and other rooms if they speak loud (like baby crying). You can hear the street sounds a little, but acceptable. Check-in and check-out was quick and easy. Photos show they bad sides, but the main room is very fine.

I picked this hotel because it was close to the Kai Tak stadium, where the Coldplay concert was, and the location is the only good thing about this hotel. The room was good probably like 20 years ago, with uncomfortable and hard bed and ugly decorations. It was a smoking room, so it smelled terribly. There was nothing in the room, not even water, which they claim to be done for supporting the ecology, but for a price like that they could have at least provided water dispenser on every floor. Obviously, no other stuff like tooth brushes or vanity kits were provided (but you could obviously BUY them, because buying is somehow supporting the ecology). It was SOOO overpriced, and absolutely for nothing! My last straw was when I asked concierge if they had umbrellas for rent for the guests, they suggested that I buy one instead for $60! I also had breakfast in the morning ($120 per person), and it was quite mediocre. They should also know that they have so many travelers from mainland China - why don't they change the electric sockets to fit the charging devices? Staying in this hotel definitely isn't worth the money.

I noticed a few things that made no sense for a hotel of this star rating. The mini bar is a joke (see photo). There was no luggage rack, so my suitcase had to be put on the bed to use it. The safe in the room is not secured down, so anyone could walk in and walk away with the safe. I don't like dealing with the virtue signaling people who are still wearing masks, and when I asked the girl to remove it so I could see her face while checking in, she refused. When I spoke to a manager about this, he said that they allow the staff to do what they like. Must be the only business in the world that would allow such a thing.

EEdiGThe hotel positions itself as a 4-star establishment, but it falls short of that mark. Here's a breakdown of my experience: Location: The location is excellent, if you don't mind a steep uphill walk. However, the entire island is built on different levels, which isn't a negative but rather a positive – a daily workout! There's a bus stop right by the hotel, making it easy to reach the metro instead of walking up and down, straining your leg muscles. Next door is a botanical and zoological garden where you can take a stroll. By the way, entry is free. A 10-minute walk down the hill leads to the cable car ”tram” stop for a trip to Victoria Peak. Check-in: Check-in was fast, but a USD 300 deposit is required, which isn't mentioned on either the trip.com website or the hotel's website. If you need an adapter for your electronic devices, ask for one right away – the receptionist won't offer it. Room: The room is relatively clean, though I did find some hair in the kitchen and on the bedding. For Hong Kong, the room is spacious, but there's nowhere to store a suitcase. You can set the temperature on the air conditioner, but it doesn't work. It only blows cold air, making the room humid. Kitchen: The kitchen is minimally equipped, but it's sufficient. However, upon check-in, they warn you that the stove can only be used for reheating food, not cooking, as the fire alarm system is very sensitive and might activate the siren due to hot steam. You must turn on the exhaust fan to full power and the air conditioner to avoid triggering the alarm. Why bother having a kitchen at all? Bathroom: The same situation as with the kitchen – you need to close the door and turn on the air conditioner at full power while showering to avoid the fire alarm being triggered by steam from the bathroom. The shower hose started leaking on the second day of my stay. It was replaced with a new one, which also leaked. When the technician replaced the hose, did he check if the equipment was working properly? I doubt it. Breakfast: Breakfast is only served from a menu, which is quite limited. It's delicious, but not diverse. Is this the service you'd expect from a 4-star hotel? The breakfast organization is chaotic – staff running around and clanging dishes. Two slow coffee machines and one toaster keep guests waiting in line. By the way, there are plastic mugs for tea and coffee. The only fruit options are two types of apples – red and green. Service: The service is polite, but I'd say it's ”on demand.” You need to ask for shampoo, shower gel, and dishwashing liquid to be refilled. The housekeeping, for some reason, doesn't notice the need to replenish hygiene products in the bathroom and kitchen. Environmentalism: As in all of Hong Kong, they no longer provide water in plastic bottles. That's good, but come up with an alternative so guests don't have to go to the store for water. In my opinion, this environmental concern is simply an opportunity to reduce service costs while maintaining high accommodation prices. Speaking of breakfast again, the jam and butter are provided in small plastic containers, just like on airplanes. Is this really about caring for the environment? Conclusion: Overall, it's a good choice if you're not bothered by the minor service inconsistencies and if you don't have high expectations for a 4-star hotel. If you're visiting Hong Kong, I'd recommend Two MacDonell Road.

GGuest UserDespite its distance from the center, this hotel makes a really good impression to its guests. Very good service especially the housekeeping department. Very hospitable and serves with a smile unlike the ones in the front desk. Nothing to worry about the transportation cos there's bus to everywhere. You just have to bring extra strengths for walking which makes it a good exercise. You won't starve in the hotel aswell cos they have shops nearby which makes it very convenient. Good stay I must say. Would recco 100%.

SShenzhenFoodieThe hotel is close to terminal 1 HKIA. There is a shuttle bus from/to the airport every 15-30 minutes. The hotel is also close to Exit B Asia World Expo station, and the brand new K11 mall. The staffs in this hotel are nice and my room was upgraded to the suite room. The room is clean with big bed, two bathrooms and a pool view. The sky deck has an amazing view of the beach and people also stay at the sky deck with their friends and families. However, I didn’t have a chance to try their breakfast. Would love to come back here again.

GGuest UserI've had one of the most frustrating stays I can remember. Even though I can't say it was really hotel's fault, just a bad sequence of events. When I first got into my room, the room had a bit of a smell.. nothing terrible, it's almost 30 years old hotel and well carpets etc. also the hotel doesn't provide drinking water and there is only a box of tissues in the bathroom. What was worse, was that wifi was very unstable, when I tried to contact front desk about it, I couldn't reach them because of the ridiculously long queue for check in or they wouldn't answer the phone. Also the toilet was a bit dodgy, but it mostly worked. In the morning at 5 some guests made really a lot of noise, so at 6 I came to the front desk to complain about all, because, well, there won't be queues at such time. The receptionist offered to change me to a different room. Few hours later, I wanted to take a swim, but the pool was closed despite sunny weather.. apparently the government issued a storm warning. At that time I just wanted a refund and leave the place, but they would refuse, just insist on the room exchange. I went out for the day and when I came back there was an hour-long queue at a reception desk, which I refused to join. I asked concierge for help, but the guy refused to help me and had really bad attitude. So after loud argument with the men, I stormed directly in front of the front desk and demanded my new room. They gave it to me in 30 seconds and after I called to fix the wifi, rest of my stay was actually pretty great. The harbour view from 31st floor is really nice, especially early in the morning. All in all, if one expects a 4-star hotel, this is not it. However for a budget accommodation (as was the price I paid) it is more than nice.

SSilverHawk81Dorsett Tsuen Wan is a modern, budget-friendly hotel in Hong Kong, offering convenience and comfort at an affordable price. Located just a short walk from Tsuen Wan MTR Station, it provides easy access to central Hong Kong, making it ideal for both business and leisure travelers. Close to Tai Wo Kou station Competitive pricing for Hong Kong, with regular promotions. Compact but well-designed with cozy beds, good Wi-Fi, and smart TVs. Friendly and efficient service, with English-speaking receptionists. Dorsett Tsuen Wan delivers excellent value for money. While rooms are small, they’re clean and functional, and the location is unbeatable for exploring Hong Kong. A solid choice for budget-conscious travelers who prioritize convenience.

LLuis FernandoIt’s an older hotel, that’s understandable, but the stains on the carpet and the old cigarette smoke smell are a little much. I’ve been in much worse hotels in China, but not in Hong Kong. The value is great, but the hotel needs updating. No complimentary waters, no bar of soap, amenities need to be brought up to the China standard. Beautiful views, nice location, just needs cleaning and updating.
